Thirty-six-year-old Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, a Mexican-Salvadoran citizen without legal status, was shot by ICE officers near Patterson, California. Hernandezs attorney claims he was fired upon first, with bullets hitting his face and arm. Despite being in the ICU, Hernandez is expected to leave today. The incident occurred after a tense stop, where Hernandez allegedly weaponized his vehicle to flee. ICE maintains their officers were in danger due to the cars movements. Hernandez denies gang ties and was acquitted of murder charges in El Salvador in 2019. A GoFundMe has been set up to support his family during his recovery.
