Dennis Coyle, a 64-year-old American, is finally free after over a year in an Afghanistan prison. Released without charges, hes heading home following his long ordeal. Coyle, an academic researcher, was detained by Taliban intelligence in January 2022, used as leverage despite no crime. Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed the news, thanking the United Arab Emirates and Qatar for their support. Since Trumps second term, over 100 Americans have been freed from unjust overseas detentions. The State Department is now pressing Afghanistan to release remaining Americans and end hostage-taking practices.
