Centralization versus Decentralization - Judges 1

This sermon serves as an introduction to the Book of Judges and covers chapter 1. Ultimately – no form of government provides peace and justice if the people themselves are not submitted to the law of God and the ways of His Word. When big governments produce corruption and tyrants from within – the people like to talk about and see the need for decentralization. When there is corruption and threats from invaders from without – people like to talk about big central governments. Both have their dangers. Between the days of Joshua and Samuel, Israel had plummeted to moral and spiritual degeneracy and disaster. Over and over the pattern of sin followed by oppression, followed by repentance, followed by deliverance, followed by sin followed by oppression, followed by repentance, followed by deliverance we see repeated again and again. Look at our own nation. In rebellion to the Lord. God brings judgment – some of it in the form of oppression by governments. Understand that is a goodness. It gets men's attention. It humbles men; blunts the arrogance of man; makes them contrite. Here in Judges we will see utter spiritual degeneracy to the point where a son steals from his mother, a fornicator is a leader, and a whole tribe condones homosexual acts, rape, and murder. Long neglect of God's law had left the Israelites with faulty notions about God and about His will. 37 min. MercySeat.net

Kyle Rittenhouse: Right to Life, Self-Defense, and Defense of Others

This sermon is a defense of Kyle Rittenhouse's actions. The sermon briefly repudiates the lies of the media. The bulk of the sermon goes into Scripture to show that the right to life, self-defense, and defense of others originate from God and are found in Scripture. Application is then made to Kyle's situation at the end of the sermon. Though many believe these rights exist - few can articulate them from Scripture. This sermon will equip you to do so. 51 min. From the sermon: "In this sermon I want to address the hue and cry of certain persons who have whined about a 17 year-old having a gun. "How did a 17 year-old get a gun?" "He is too young to be running around with a gun!" "No one his age should have a gun." And on and on. I want to address this childish gibberish. This inane talk. This ignorance of history. History is loaded with examples of young men under the age of 18 fighting battles – using guns and swords." 39 min. MercySeat.net

Three Hard Things about the State of our Nation and Covid

America has forgotten God. There is delusion and judgment upon America. The three hard things addressed in this sermon are: 1. America is under delusion, 2. America is breaking apart and you must begin to think geographically, and 3. your own government is at war with you at all levels - federal, state, county, and local. The sermon addresses how to respond. Note: if you think things can always be corrected peacefully, you are ignorant of two things - human nature and history. The question of the hour for every Christian to their pastor is: "If the government makes the covid vaccine mandatory, and I refuse to get it for me and my children - would I be doing wrong in the sight of God?" The answer to that question will tell you volumes. The fact you even have to ask the question already tells you something. 58 min. A Response to State-Mandated Mask Orders

So I decided to preach this sermon because the churchmen have been demanding a verse or something from the law of God where it says you can disobey the civil authorities if they demand mask wearing. And the verse I give them from the law of God is the ninth commandment – "You shall not bear false witness." My assertion is that when you wear a mask you are aiding and abetting a great fiction. You are aiding and abetting a lie. You are giving credence to a lie. You are joining in a lie. This whole covid matter has been built on a mountain of lies. Exodus 23 verse one (more from God's law) declares - "You shall not circulate a false report." You are circulating or spreading a false report when you wear the mask. V.2 says - "You shall not follow a multitude to do evil." There is nothing BUT evil involved with this masking nonsense. Evil is afoot. And any person with discernment senses it. And when you wear the mask you have joined the multitude doing evil. Bostock: The Continued Evil of the Supreme Court

The supreme Court of the Untied States has been dragging America into hell for decades now. While we wait for the Supreme Court to rescind its evil and cure its injustices and immorality – the evil, and injustice, and immorality they have dispensed via their issued court opinions seeps down into the fabric of society and corrupts men. Some Thoughts on Science and Christianity

Science has been proven wrong again and again. Yet many men boast in science and denigrate Christianity. They claim that science is rational and faith is irrational. An utter absurdity which only the least objective person could proffer. Science has often been irrational (we have seen a taste of it over the last two months) and faith is full of rational thought and reason. Faith is not irrational, nor without reason. In fact, reason is part of what brings men to faith. 36 min. Easter2020: Covid-19, Judgement, Delusion & Repentance

Because we have given the state the place of God – and have declared the state to be God by virtue of how we think and conduct our lives – the Lord has given us over to that god. He is allowing us to get our bellies full of the state. He will show us what a taskmaster the state is. Remember the Jews after they were delivered from Egypt? In Ex. 16 they complained about how their bellies were not full like back in Egypt. They were slaves back in Egypt – but no problem with that as long as their bellies were full. And that is how most Americans are. Slaves to the state. And they are good with it – as long as their bellies are full. 38 min. COVID-19 & Quarantine Laws

God's Word speaks to all matters of life, including the matter of quarantining. The Lord speaks of this in His law in Leviticus 13. And when we look at the law of God we see one thing that comes through loud and clear – you do NOT quarantine the whole of society – rather you quarantine the sick. There is also a process in God's law to follow to determine who is sick. You do not abridge the rights and freedom of everyone and shut down the whole of society. In this we see the goodness and grace of God's law. God's law is more gracious and protects freedom more than man's law. God's law doesn't destroy the economy and lives of others. God's prescription was intended to protect society not only from the disease, but from economic hardship upon those who weren't diseased. You don't abridge every other person's freedom – you quarantine the sick. Interposition of a Magistrate - Acts 18

Continuing through Acts verse by verse. So here again we see Paul before the magistrates. In contact with the magistrates. When the Lord spoke to Paul He said there would be no harm to him – but that did not mean there wouldn't be difficulties. But notice here – no harm did come to him! Here we see the interposition of the magistrates on behalf of Paul! The magistrate keeps Paul from harm. And this was huge. Had Gallio sided with the Jews – scholars point out that this would have slowed the preaching of the Gospel for the next 10-12 years. Then there was a change in Roman rule under Nero decidedly against Christians. But those 10-12 years running up till then would have been decidedly different. Gallio was held in esteem – had his judgment gone against Paul - all other proconsuls would hear of his verdict on this – and they too would have made things hard on the Christians. Because of the interposition of this proconsul – the Christian faith was given liberty to be proclaimed. This demonstrates once again – the impact of the magistrates concerning the Gospel – whether for good or for evil. And I have seen this in our days. From a judge to a policeman – they can either help proliferate the spread of the Gospel – or hinder it. This is why churchmen have always believed it important to instruct the magistrates – to speak to the civil realm regarding their office; instructing them in their duty in the sight of Christ. Christ's kingdom impacts both individuals and nations. And here we see it yet again in Acts 18 – our text. 53 min. Mercy Seat.net DefyTyrants.com

Where Are The Men? A Tumult & A Study Acts 17:1-15

After two and half years, finally getting this sermon posted. Continuing through Acts verse by verse - it is a barn-burner. This is classic Christianity in action. True Christianity confronts the false religions and paganism of the cultures. True Christianity confronts and comes into conflict with the idols of cultures. And that is what is happening here. Notice this form of true Christianity is wholly opposite of American Christianity and all the Christianity of the West in our day – which tries to accommodate itself to the world – to live in peaceful coexistence with the world. To appease and conform to the world – even to where it can live in peaceful coexistence with and accommodate itself to homosex - when such behavior is condemned in see-spot-run fashion in Scripture. We have to ask – where are the men who fear God? All of present-day Christianity tries to effeminize men – make men into women – condemn and cajole manly behavior – and yet, the world is screaming for men who love God to speak! And to act! These who have turned the world upside down! This means ‘those who have caused trouble!' It means ‘those who are declaring something contrary to what we have known!' To them this is an attack upon our filthy way of life; a possible end to our status quo. Biblical Christianity causes conflict because it confronts the idols and thinking and evil of the culture. And I say – where are the men of God that will say ‘away with this bauble' – and in fealty and faithfulness and love for Christ will confront the idols. Where are they? 35 minutes MercySeat.net DefyTyrants.com

Acts 11-The Christians at Antioch

In Christian history, apart from Jerusalem, no other city of the Roman Empire played as large a part in the life of the early church as Antioch of Syria. It was the home base of Paul's outreach to the eastern half of the empire. It was the place believers were first named "Christians." It was the place where the dispute about whether the Gentile converts had to be circumcised or not and other Jewish customs arose. It was the birthplace of foreign missions (13:2). And it had among its teachers – Barnabas, Paul, and Peter in the first century; Ignatius and Theophilis in the 2nd century; and Lucian, Theodore, and Chrysostum at the end of the third century. The Jewish mind had a difficult time accepting the idea that Gentiles could be part of the Lord's people. So difficult – that the Lord had to give Peter this dramatic vision in order to make it thinkable and accepted by the early Jewish believers. The primary point of this passage regarding this vision was not about whether you can eat unclean animals or not per Leviticus 11, rather, the primary point of this passage and vision is that the Gentiles – whom the Jews considered unclean – were able to be part of the people of God also. The Gospel was not just for the Jew – but also for the Gentile. For all men. This sermon covers all of chapter 10 verse by verse. May Christ be praised! 47 min. Mercy Seat.net

Lawrence the Deacon & Persecution by the State

I never published this sermon because it is missing the first 8-minutes due to a recording error. But I now realize that what was preserved is of too great importance not to air. Very few Christians who have been martyred were told - "Deny Christ or die." The vast majority of persecutions had and have to do with some point of obedience. The matter is about authority - and about rule. The design of the state is to persecute and eliminate Christianity, or subjugate it, or dull, deaden, and defile the form of Christianity in their midst. This is what has happened in America and throughout the West. The state makes laws or policies that impugn the law or Word of God. The Christian is brought into confrontation and conflict with the state because of this point of obedience - whatever the situation may be. He refuses to join in the state's rebellion against Christ. He is obedient to the Lord. This results in suffering, persecution, and martyrdom. Lawrence the Deacon exemplified this in the 3rd century. 23 min. Acts 8:14-40 Philip, the Samaritans, and the Eunuch

Continuing verse by verse, this sermon covers the expansion of the Gospel into non-Jewish areas as we see the conversion of the Samaritans and an Ethiopian eunuch. The early Jewish believers were beginning to realize what Jesus said in Acts 1:8 was true - that they would be His witnesses in Samaria and to the ends of the earth! The sermon also covers whether Simon's conversion was genuine or not. 39 min. MercySeat.net
