Show Notes

In this On the Move Extra Lap, host Matt Avery is getting all the details on one mean, green machine: a heavily customized, radical 1939 GMC Pickup known as "Weed Eater." The ultra-hot hauler will be crossing the auction block at Dana Mecum’s 35th Original Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis this May. For the full story, he’s going right to the source, chatting with the truck’s builder, Dave Tucci of Tucci’s Hot Rods. The master fabricator fills Matt in on how the project came to be, including the countless hours of fabrication and bodywork, as well as some of the more subtle touches, including the integration of parts from a Plymouth Prowler and a 1954 Pontiac grille. He also shares the insane media blitz surrounding the truck’s debut, including the features in several leading magazines, a Hot Wheels 1/64 replica, inclusion into multiple brand promotions and two appearances at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before signing off, Dave shares the extreme personal connection he has with this dream machine, being one of the major projects that launched his career as an automotive customizer.
