Show Notes

Serafina owner of It's a Boring Life and It's a Boring Life cafe, also owns a farm in - yes really - BORING, Oregon. Now for the journey. Our host, Sarah Marshall, actually grew up in the area and can relate to the life. A joint venture between Serafina and wife, Jennifer Johnson, Serafina started her career raising lots of money for non-profits. Starting a chicken farm to take wholesome chicken nuggets to the public, they started from a knowledge base of nothing. But it took off exponentially and sold in 2018. Serafina took over as CEO for about a year, then they decided to move and chose to go to Oregon to be closer to Serafina's family. Landing in Boring was close to family even though they had said "never again" to a startup, they eventually got back into building a business. They're sage advice to budding entrepreneurs: Make a large margin on your product or else you'll be raising money to get it off the ground.
