A public health expert believes it's too early to suggest opening our borders to our neighbours.
It comes amid renewed calls for New Zealand to open its border to Australia, allowing quarantine free travel between the two nations.
Otago University Professor Michael Baker told Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford now may not be the right time.
"Often the devil's in the detail, and you've got to have certain conditions met by all of the countries so its a mutually agreeable arrangement."
