A policy bonfire - as Chris Hipkins slashes and burns contentious arms of the Government's work programme.

The new Prime Minister's just revealed details of his bread and butter reset - scrapping the TVNZ- RNZ merger, hiking the minimum wage to 22 dollars 70, and stalling proposed hate speech laws.

He's also announced a social insurance scheme won't be passed this term - and confirmed Three Waters could soon be in for a shake-up.

Chris Hipkins says it's about refocusing priorities - and putting the cost of living front and centre.

Independent Economist Cameron Bagrie joined Simon Barnett & James Daniels to share his thought.
