After striking a partnership with satellite communications company Iridium, Qualcomm has backed out of the deal. Scrapping its SnapDragon satellite plans, Qualcomm noted in a statement that smartphone makers have “indicated a preference towards standards-based solutions” for satellite-to-phone connectivity.
