Club football returned, but Manchester United seemed to miss the memo. A poor performance at St. James’ Park is rewarded with defeat. Erik Ten Hag’s substitutions came under fire, and so did most of the team’s players. Newcastle leapfrog the one and only United into third. Much work to be done.
