"Uh-Oh, I'm A Finger Princess"

Outlouders, it’s Friday the 13th and the vibes are… chaotic. From Wuthering Heights to Finger Princesses to The Year of the Fire Horse and our weekly reccos, today's show is A LOT. We’re about to enter the Year of the Fire Horse and apparently it’s all action, freedom and breakthrough energy. Unless you’re a Pig (sorry, Holly Wainwright). Jessie Stephens and Clare Stephens are claiming this as their zodiac Super Bowl, but there’s a tiny historical footnote involving superstition, falling birth rates and the suggestion Fire Horses are “too wild.” Rude. And, the robots have taken over your child’s class photo. And no, we're not 'just' talking fixing gappy smiles. Add in AI-cheating uni students, 200-written-in-a-year AI romance novels by one author and its controversial use in true crime documentaries and suddenly we’re asking: are we outsourcing our brains? Or just evolving? Plus: the petty hills we will absolutely die on. Quiet carriages. TEABAG OUT. No, Coke Zero isn’t fine. Yes, you must wave. The list is long and, at times, unhinged. And finally… are you a Finger Princess? The friend who asks questions she could very easily Google. We fear it’s us. Welcome to Friday, friends. It's a vibe. An Affair Confession Live On Air

"Three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her..." These were the words that a Norwegian biathlete shared in his live press interview, minutes after winning bronze at the Winter Olympics. So why did Sturla Holm Laegreid choose to tell the world he messed up his chance with "the love of his life" and will his grand gesture to get her back work?  Also, the world can't look away from the devastating true-crime story of the apparent abduction of US TV star Savannah Guthrie's mother Nancy. Today, there's been an announcement that a man has been detained after the release of a nightmarish video, but why has this case captured the world's attention and does that spotlight help, or harm, a real-time investigation?  Plus, Lindsay Vonn is a US ski-racer who should possibly never have started the race that just ended her career. So is her story a triumphant one about resilience, or a cautionary one about ego? And look, Holly Wainwright, Jessie Stephens and Amelia Lester were not going to leave the studio without a dose of scurrilous gossip: The footballer dumped immediately after they lost the Superbowl; why Kendall Jenner needed hand-holding in the Bad Bunny show; Kim and Lewis and, the couple most likely to infuriate their friends are (maybe) back together. Yes, it's JLO and Ben, 2.5. SUBSCRIBE here: Support independent women's media  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: The Best (And Worst) Generations Of Parents. A Leaderboard! The Most Bizarre Celebrity Profile We’ve Ever Read

It’s Super Bowl Day in the US and while we’re not clear on the result, we do know that Kim Kardashian decided it was date night and Bad Bunny is actually one extremely good bunny. So, why did he inspire other musicians to put on a rival halftime show?  In other business, the 'Coldplay kiss cam' woman is telling her side of the story of the night that changed her life, and Jessie Stephens, Clare Stephens and Holly Wainwright ask: What do you do with the kind of infamy that no-one wants? And, Recipe Tin Eats’ Nagi Maehashi is mourning the loss of her very good boy, the famous Dozer. Have we learned how to say goodbye to pets properly? And what do we do with that very particular grief?  Plus, Melinda Gates and what you owe a truly terrible ex.  And Bianca Censori — Kanye West’s wife — has given a long and winding interview about why she’s ready to put clothes on. Do I Matter? & The Bathroom Taboo

Mia Freedman is in full-on producer mode at the moment with the launch of her shiny new project Unleashed. Today, however, she’s back in the hosting chair on Mamamia Out Loud as she spills to Jessie Stephens and Em Vernem what this producer gig malarkey is all about. Outlouders, trust us, you’re going to eat this up. And, do you matter? Are you essential or just... existing? Mia, Jessie, and Em unpack the 'mattering' movement and why it’s taking over from 'let them'. Plus, hotel bathrooms. Something’s changed, and it’s making us feel most exposed. The hosts dig into this trend and why some things — even with your partner — are better left private. Also, Valentine’s Day = loneliest day for singles? Em begs to differ. There’s actually a worse one, and she’s explaining why. Aaaand did we mention that hair tinsel is back? Naturally, Mia is fully here for it. Welcome to the world of disco hair. An Urgent Theory About Kim Kardashian & Lewis Hamilton

Why did the news about Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend make Em Vernem cry? The F1 fans of Out Loud have a lot of big feelings about Kim and Lewis Hamilton’s romantic weekend in London and Paris, and the reason is... baffling.  Plus, a former Neighbours star is now a big deal in populist Right politics, globally. Yes, Holly Valance is busy trying to get Pauline Hanson elected, just as she’s trying to get Nigel Farage elected in the UK and threw a massive fundraiser for Trump in 2024. So, is Valance’s One Nation re-record of Kiss Kiss silly, or scary?  And.. Is it always better to be right? Holly Wainwright, Jessie Stephens and Em wrestle with the dichotomy of caring about facts and caring about being an infuriating over-corrector. Fertility Vampires & The Murkiness Of 'Affair Baiting'

If a man breaks up with a 30-something woman who wants a child, is he guilty of more than changing his mind? Inspired by a viral column from the weekend, we explain the phenomena of the  ‘fertility vampire’. Also, you might have seen the disturbing photos of the man once known as Prince Andrew kneeling over a woman. They are just a few of the thousands and thousands of images released in this weekend’s drop from the Epstein Files. So what are they, what else is in there, and what might happen next? Are Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi “affair baiting” on the press tour for Wuthering Heights? And is that… okay?  Plus, Kim Kardashian has finally told us exactly why Harry and Meghan wanted those pictures taken off their socials and Karl Stefanovic is cutting our grass. Jessie Stephens, Emily Vernem and Holly Wainwright unpack all that and why an Outlouder has shattered Holly’s family dreams.    Read Charlotte Ree's article here:He told me not to freeze my eggs. It's Time To Burp Your House & The 3, 5, 7 Underwear Rule

You probably should be burping your house: every morning, every evening and whenever you get the urge throughout the day, tbh. Jessie Stephens explains to Emily Vernem and Holly Wainwright why not doing that is… a lil bit gross.  And while we’re hygiene-sharing, Em has a question for the group: How many pairs of underwear do you take if you are going away for a weekend? Holly thought she knew the answer to this question, but she’s definitely wrong.  Also, how many risks are parents allowed to take? We’re talking about Alex Honnold and Sanni McCandless - the man who just climbed a skyscraper with no ropes, net or parachute, and the mother of his little kids who watched him do it. Is it okay to just… carry on regardless with your passions, however isolating or deadly they are, once you have kids?  Plus: Be more “vegan + bacon”. Why that’s not an oxymoron, but a philosophy to live by in 2026.  Oh, and recommendations. Which this week include:Emily’s underwear edit - including Nala (the sexiest Aussie pants) and many more.  Holly’s enthusiasm for Oscar-nommed Marty Supreme, in cinemas now, and a high-brow discussion about Timothée's bottom.  And Jessie is watching The Pitt, Season Two, on HBO Max.  Urgent addition! Summer Book Club: Melaleuca — Angie Faye Martin

Outlouders, welcome to the third and final instalment of our Summer Book Club where we’re going out strong. 🔥Em Vernem, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright dissect Melaleuca by Angie Faye Martin — the Australian debut crime novel we did not see coming and now can’t stop thinking about. This episode has it all: small-town secrets, outback noir vibes, corrupt cops, missing women, a brilliant Indigenous protagonist, and a twist that genuinely divided the hosts. We talk sense of place, why crime novels are such powerful social mirrors, and yes — the chickens. (You’ll understand.) ⚠️ Full spoilers ahead — this one’s for listeners who’ve read the book and are ready to argue lovingly about pacing, plausibility and that ending. Plus: why we’re thrilled Angie Faye Martin is writing a sequel and why Renee Taylor is a protagonist we want to follow anywhere. 📚 Outlouders, we know how many of you love these special episodes so... would you like us to keep the MMOL Book Club going? "Hold On, I Just Need To Vent"

Heated Rivalry is only the tip of a very sexy ice(hockey)berg. Straight women make up at least 60% of the audience of the booming MM (male to male) queer romance book market. Why? Holly Wainwright, Jessie Stephens and Emily Vernem unpack the theories behind the biggest TV hit of the Summer.   Also, no, you're not imagining it. Every streaming show you watch is talking to you like you're a little bit... dumb. Matt Damon knows why.  And, everyone has a venting friend. Sometimes, everyone is a venting friend. But now, 'venting' has been labelled toxic friendship behaviour. We want to know who we can vent to about that.  Plus, our recommendations. Brooklyn Beckham, That ‘Inappropriate’ Dance & The Downfall Of A Family Brand

The word "nuzzle" is being used and Victoria Beckham's humiliation is complete. Yes, we have an update on the devastating private family breakdown playing out in the most public of ways. Including: Why was Brooklyn Beckham's name trademarked to his mum? Why are wedding guests posting, and then deleting their recollections of 'that' dance? And what does the 'Atlantic Gap' have to do with all this? It's all here.  Also, there have been four shark attacks in New South Wales in just 48 hours, with devastating repercussions. So, is it time Australia got better and louder about shark education? And, do you have an age-gap friendship? Amelia Lester, Jessie Stephens and Holly Wainwright discuss an article that argues every 20-something woman needs a 40-something friend. What do both sides of that dynamic get out of those relationships? And why do they confuse everyone?  Plus: The meaning behind Naomi Osaka's "catwalk" moment at the Australian Open.  OH, and if you can't get enough Beckham news, Mia Freedman hosted a subscriber episode for Outlouders, and you can listen to it, here.  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to The Quicky: Are Shark Attacks On The Rise? & Clare Stephens On The Beckham Family Feud Listen to our latest episode: Brooklyn Beckham Goes Nuclear: An Emergency Meeting Listen: The Superstar Podcaster Who’s Been ‘Red-Pilled’ & Was JLo Really That Rude? An (Allegedly) Rude Celebrity & The Podcaster Facing a Reckoning

JLo has been accused of being rude when she didn't say "Hi" to the Glambot Guy on the red carpet at the Golden Globes last week. We all love stories of snooty celebrities but is this just an extension of telling women to "Smile"?Our (literal) foreign policy expert Amelia Lester is back and we have questions for her about Greenland. Namely, where is it? Why does Trump want it? And what happens if he gets it? Also, one of the most listened to men in the world is being accused of 'red-pilling' his audience. But what is that, and has it happened to Steven Bartlett of Diary of a CEO?  Plus, on your Instagram it's 2016. So why are we so attracted to recent nostalgia, and what are the tell-tale signs that a pic was taken the year the whole world lurched towards the flaming bin? All that and other excellent stuff too on today's Mamamia Out Loud with Holly Wainwright, Jessie Stephens and Amelia Lester.  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: We’ve Entered The Year Of Friction-maxxing Listen: Our Best Heated Rivalry Theory & Taylor Swift's Mum Listen: A Spectacular Writers' Festival Collapse & The Jennifer Lawrence Dog Drama Listen: Why Mia Really Left... We’ve Entered The Year Of Friction-maxxing

Could you have guests over without cleaning all the way up? What about turning off the GPS when you're driving? How about not tracking your kids and partner, no matter what? This year, it's all about friction-maxxing. Learning to live without a few of the conveniences that have become crutches, all in the pursuit of becoming - no big deal - more human. Em is horrified and Jessie is inspired by this essay in The Cut by Kathryn Jezer-Morton.  Also, Holly's favourite Dax Shepard says that he will pay for his daughter to freeze her eggs when she turns 18. Is this genius, generous parenting, or snow-plough dadding in action?  And, is everyone brushing their faces now?  Plus, our recommendations include something glowy for your face, the best coffee pot in the world, and a book Jessie cannot stop thinking about.  SUBSCRIBE here: Support independent women's media  Recommendations Em recommends a Moka Coffee Pot  Jessie recommends Heart the Lover by Lily King. A Spectacular Writers' Festival Collapse & The Jennifer Lawrence Dog Drama

Since when did cosy chats about books suck up quite so many headlines? Adelaide Writers' Week is the longest-running literary event in Australia and this week it collapsed under the weight of its own controversy. So, Em asks Holly and Jessie, what are writers' festivals for, anyway? Jennifer Lawrence re-homed her dogs after she had a baby and Jessie wants to know why nobody warned her that talking about that will ruin her life. And Jessie would know.   When does a situationship become a boy/girlfriend? And when does a boy/girlfriend become a partner? And does anyone (apart from Raye) like the word husband? Thanks to Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, we have a new commitment ladder for relationships in 2026. Also, the job choice that can predict your age and stage.  And the new endo test that could change everything for women tired of waiting for an answer about why they're in agony.  Oh, and did Holly just get fleeced by Harry Styles?  SUBSCRIBE here: Support independent women's media  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: Why Mia Really Left... Summer Book Club: Great Big Beautiful Life - Emily Henry

It’s the second episode of our Summer Book Club and this time, we’re diving headfirst into Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry. So then, it was the book that promised joy, mess, meaning and maybe a mild existential spiral — did it deliver? 👀 In this episode, Em V, Jessie and Holly unpack: Why this story hits differently when you read it in summer The characters we wanted to hug… and the ones we wanted to gently shake Big love, big choices and the pressure to live a 'beautiful' life Whether this book is hopeful escapism or a mirror held a little too close And the one question it leaves you asking long after the last page It’s warm, emotional, occasionally unhinged (in a good way) and exactly the kind of book you want to argue about with friends. Read it. Feel things. Then come scream about it with us. Summer Book Club Episode 3 drops on January 25 when we'll be discussing the Melaleuca by Angie Faye Martin. 📚 Outlouders, we know how many of you love these special episodes so... would you like us to keep the MMOL Book Club going? The Bondi Stories We’ll Never Forget & How To Be A Good Guest

There are names we will never forget from the Bondi attacks. On today's show, Jessie, Holly and Amelia want to honour just a few of the many heroes who risked — and in some cases lost — their lives trying to save others in the worst terror attack ever to happen on Australia's soil. And we want to tell you a little bit about what it feels like in Sydney, and at Bondi at the moment.  Not everyone is able to turn their attention elsewhere this week, but for those who can and want to, we're having some other conversations, too. Like, Taylor Swift, Timothee Chalamet and the era of being able to say, "Yeah, I'm pretty good at this" without cringe.  And, the power of gathering. Being together has never felt more urgent, but at whose house, and who's bringing the cake? Even if you hate hosting, it's hard to avoid at this time of year and you know what makes it better? Good guests. We tell you how to be one, and Amelia shares a thank-you note rule that impressed us all.   Resources: If you or someone you know is in need of support contact help is available: Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 22 46361800RESPECT  1800 737 732 Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800Mental Health Line 1800 011 511Transcultural Mental Health Line 1800 648 911  Support independent women's media  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: The Unspoken Etiquette Of Friendship Listen: A Sunday Evening At Bondi Beach Listen: The Rudest Question You've Definitely Asked This Week Listen: Jessie's Twin Pregnancy Update: They're Doing What Now? A Sunday Evening At Bondi Beach

It's not a usual show today, because it's not a usual day.  At sunset on Sunday, at Australia's most famous beach, Australia experienced the worst act of terrorism ever to take place on our soil. As the local Jewish community celebrated the beginning of Chanukah, families gathered around food, face-painting and even a petting zoo for an 'everyone is welcome' opening to the Festival Of Lights. And two men opened fire.  Some Outlouders will be directly affected by what happened on Sunday. Others will be far removed but asking how this could happen here in Australia, and what they can do to help. Some will just want to talk it over. The Rudest Question You've Definitely Asked This Week

It's the time of the year when you have to rub up against other people in all kinds of ways. And so obviously Jessie, Holly and Em needed to bring an updated etiquette guide. So, what's a great question, what's a rude one and do you always, always need to give a gift receipt? And, are you struggling to make a big decision about the new year? Of course you are. We have a new framework to help: Is this a Hat, Haircut or Tattoo problem?  Plus, a dilemma for the ages: Is a straight man cheating if he continually 'likes' another woman’s Instagram posts? Thankfully, a court has cleared this up.  And of course, recommendations: Something to make life easier, something to make yourself smell lovely and something to make the Gen Xers feel smug.  Support independent women's media Em recommends the Ouai hair and body mist in the scent St Barts Jessie recommends the Dinner Ladies Christmas dishes Holly recommends the essay in the New York Times, Is Gen X Actually the Greatest Generation? and creating a lucky dip of loved Christmas movies using an empty jar. Seasonal Scams, Bonnie Blue & Pop Star Tantrums

Performers are totally over it, and their end-of-year burnout is highly relatable content. But also, are we, the crowds, worse than we've ever been? This week a 90s rock legend ripped into a concert-goer at a Melbourne show and we want to know — do any of us know how to behave any more?  And, in what seems like very unsurprising news, adult content creator Bonnie Blue has been arrested in Bali. But why did she take her 'bang bus' there in the first place? Plus, scams. Amelia has a scam story that will make your hair stand on end, Holly says fears of being ripped-off make holiday shopping harder than battling traffic at the carpark and Jessie wonders what living in an era of mass distrust is doing to us all.  Also, Pammy and Liam, Katy and Justin, Kylie and Timmmeeee — we're bringing you the celebrity romance and fauxmance updates not one of us asked for. The Most Surprising Relationship Red Flag

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift never fight. Nor do George and Amal Clooney. Not about work, money, cleaning, travel or whose turn it is to feed the dog (sorry, cats.) An aspirational relationship goal? Or a flashing red flag? Also, this week the whole world is looking at Australia as our world-first social media delay kicks in on Wednesday, December 10. So, what are we to make of the poll that says only a third of Aussie parents are actually going to enforce the ban that experts are calling "a mothers' revolution"?  Plus, Oprah Winfrey is in Australia and drawing huge crowds with her trademark a-ha moments. So why is Oprah still so interesting to Aussie women in 2025?  And, there's a very relevant Word of The Year, and a very intimidating Colour Of The Year, and Amelia, Jessie and Holly have a theory that they're linked.  Support independent women's media  Friends, what’s your Word of the Year for 2026, and why? The Thing You Can’t Say About Having Kids

Can you change a child's birthday because it's a bit... inconvenient for you? Content creator Indy Clinton wants us to believe she's doing just that with her "Christmas baby" and Sagittarians everywhere have thoughts. Plus, Sienna Miller is pregnant and in a negligee on the British Fashion Awards this week. At 43, Holly wants to know, is this the quintessential representation of the new era of agelessness?  Also, Pilates is dead, strength training is on its way out and a mobility obsession is on its way in - but, Amelia asks, is scolding people with the "correct" exercise trends really the way to make women move? And an essay about motherhood ambivalence has Jessie pufferfishing. ‘I Was An Ugly Child’ & The 5-Second Underthinking Rule

She's had her childhood photo used in an "ugly" meme that's all over the Internet. So why isn't host Clare Stephens upset about this dissing of her younger self?  Also: "You called me, you speak first". So That's The Reason I Feel Bad About… My Eyelids?

Outlouders, is it true? Have Millennials officially killed the affair? And, are they actually more conservative than Gen X or are they just reimagining a more modern picture of what marriage looks like? Amelia and Jessie present a Millennial defence. Plus, apparently eyelids are... over. So, what other silly things are people saying about women’s faces this week? We unpack the anti-cosmetic surgery essay every woman should read. And, there's a state funeral going on today that made us wonder — what makes someone qualify for one and should taxpayers be footing the bill? Also, we have a new skincare trend that's not for the faint of heart and we surprise Jessie for her 10-year work anniversary with Mamamia. And yes, Mia does invade the studio again with a little treat to celebrate. Happy anniversary, Jessie! The New Reason You Might Be Fired

Does having an affair make you a bad employee? Asking for a friend. Meet the CEO who fired two employees when she found out they were cheating on their spouses. She says if you can't be trusted at home, you can't be trusted at work. Is she right? Plus, everyone's talking about the Epstein/Trump emails again and we want Amelia to answer the question: What's all this about Bill Clinton, or maybe a horse?  And, it's only a matter of time before one of your friends starts gushing to you about their new love interest and you find out... they're not human. Please step into the world of AI 'companions', where Clare Stephens is worried that we'll lose sight of our humanity and Holly's wondering if they could take a load off.  Also, what time do you have dinner? Kim Kardashian's Zero-Star Strategy

After revealing she failed the bar exam, Kim Kardashian's new legal drama All's Fair has also been panned by critics as the worst TV show to ever exist. So, when you’re one of the most successful women in the world, what does it feel like to fail? And do we all need to embrace the humour in our own ‘flop’ eras? And, the New York Times asked a very simple question: Did women ruin the workplace? The Internet had a lot of thoughts, and we’re here to dissect them. Plus, can you be friends with someone who has a very different political view to you? For many young people, the answer is increasingly no. 'Smellmaxxing' & The New Place We Apparently Stink

So there's a young, handsome man who's suddenly all over our feeds. Some people say he's going to save America. Others say he's just a very good example of how charisma is the only thing that matters in a politician for the digital age. All we want to know about Zohran Mamdani is: What does he want from us?  Also, Reese Witherspoon says the reason we're so bad at dating these days is because we're not watching rom-coms any more. Jessie, Amelia and Holly unpack some of the helpful dating tips they've got from rom-coms and ask: Were we really better at talking to each other in the Sweet Home Alabama era? And, 'smellmaxxing' and its unknowable limits. Now that your average 14-year-old boy has his own 'fragrance wardrobe' and we've all very much accepted that we stink, it was only a matter of time until there was a deodorant for everywhere, including 'down there'. A Very Sad Billionaire & The Boobs We Can't Stop Staring At

At an innovation awards night — the kind where billionaires clap themselves wearing sustainably sourced tuxedos — one pop superstar cut through the self-congratulation with a single line: “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but, yeah, give your money away, shorties.”  The crowd laughed, sort of. The notable billionaire in the room? Not so much. We discuss. Meanwhile, the politics of a pair of untethered breasts: why Sydney Sweeney's new take on the naked dress has everyone confused, divided, and debating what empowerment looks like in 2025. Gotta say: We were MESMERISED. And, is it just plain embarrassing to admit to having a boyfriend now? The most viral essay of the week says YES — but why? Plus, the royal formerly known as “Prince” Andrew is only Andrew now. In what’s being called 'the greatest crisis the royal family has faced in 100 years', the King has banished his brother after the noise around Andrew's behaviour finally became too loud for even the insulated royals to ignore. So what now? Will it silence critics and accusers, or just open the floodgates? SUNDAY SPECIAL: Tammy Hembrow On Her Cancer Scare

bonus

Hey Outlouders! For this week's Sunday Special, we're dropping an exclusive episode of our sister podcast Well into your feed, featuring Australia's golden girl, Tammy Hembrow. Tune in for her first-ever detailed public discussion about her melanoma diagnosis... When you build your brand on the sun-kissed Gold Coast lifestyle, in some ways, the sun is your business partner. For global icon and fitness entrepreneur Tammy Hembrow, spending her life at the beach without ever wearing sunscreen was the norm. She thought she “never burned” and was convinced she was “immune” to the dangers of the sun.   At 28, that all changed. A tiny, harmless-looking freckle on the back of her leg led to a shocking melanoma diagnosis. In this raw and honest interview, Tammy Hembrow sits down with Claire Murphy and shares her story of the skin cancer diagnosis that blindsided her. She reveals how she cancelled her skin check appointment "about five times" before her assistant finally made her go, the shock of learning the freckle was melanoma, and the surprising reality of the surgery that left a large "permanent reminder" on her leg. Tammy opens up about the "rebellious" teenage attitude that made her ignore her dad's advice, and her new perspective on tanning, and the message she’s desperate to share with the millions of young people who follow her. This is a powerful wake-up call about the real, and often hidden, dangers of Australia's sun-loving culture. Love what you hear? If you want to hear more, follow Well in your podcast app — new episodes drop EVERY THURSDAY. Just search Well, tap '+ follow', and you’re set. THE END BITS All your health information is in the Well Hub.  If you've been putting off a skin check, this is your sign to book it. For more information on sun safety, visit the Cancer Council. It's news-free Friday so unpacking Buckingham Palace's announcement about Prince Andrew (let's make that just plain Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, shall we?) will have to wait until Monday when rest assured we'll be going in deep. A Dress, A House & A Celebrity Divorce Conspiracy

Are celebrities oversharing about their splits? Nicole Kidman's keeping it classic - sending us subliminal messages through clothes (see: revenge dress). Lily Allen is being extremely 2025 by putting her Notes-app confessions to music. But why are we being kept so clearly in the loop of some very private business? Welcome to a slightly unhinged conspiracy theory about the strategic advantage of spilling divorce tea and yes, it involves real estate.  Also, is cutting out friendships the ultimate life hack? Some of the trad wives certainly think so, saying they've given birth to and married the only friends they need.   And there are some Australian workplaces having some particularly awkward meetings today - the schools that set the wrong subject for the HSC exam, and... the BOM. What colour is drizzle, anyway? Plus, some scurrilous gossip about a chaotic new couple.  On today's show, Jessie Stephens, Holly Wainwright and Amelia Lester unpack it all.  Support independent women's media  What To Listen To Next:  Listen to our latest episode: Everything We Refuse To Spend Money On Listen: An Unevenly Open Marriage & ‘Likeable’ Kristen Bell Listen: Other People’s Marriages & Your New 'Shobby' Listen: The Precise Etiquette Of A 'Grudget' Listen: Kim K's Bush & An Office Politics Dilemma Listen: A 'Furious' King & The Rise Of The Barbie Waist Listen: The Friends Vs Family Trap & We're All Rapunzel Now Connect your subscription to Apple Podcasts Discover more Mamamia Podcasts here including the very latest episode of Parenting Out Loud, the parenting podcast for people who don't listen to... parenting podcasts. Lily Allen's Unevenly Open Marriage & ‘Likeable’ Kristen Bell

The terms “Nonmonogamummy” and “Pussy Palace” weren’t exactly on our cultural bingo cards for 2025… yet here we are. Lily Allen’s new album is a gloriously messy post-divorce confessional — a world away from the Gwyneth Paltrow school of conscious uncoupling. And, Season 2 of Nobody Wants This has finally dropped — but one of our hosts is far too distracted by Kristen Bell’s latest Instagram post to care. Holly, Amelia and Jessie ask: does an actress have to be likeable for her show to work? Plus, freebirthing — what it is, why it’s trending, and how it’s dividing the internet. The Exact Reason The Golden Bachelor Highlights A New Class Divide

Holly Wainwright is deep into The Golden Bachelor, and she has one piping-hot take—but it may not be the one you're expecting. Claire Murphy and Amelia Lester are here to figure out if Hol is just secretly projecting on to a man called Bear or whether she has a point.  And friends, you're not stressed, you're in the 'October Slump'. If time is swirling into a pre-Christmas nightmare and you can practically taste the exhaustion, the good news is that it's not just you. We've got some very necessary feedback (always a gift) for this time of year and a few survival tips. Plus, the latest celebrity daughter has officially stepped into the spotlight. Apple Martin, daughter of Hol's 'close, personal friend' Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay's Chris Martin, is all of a sudden everywhere. What does her arrival mean for the nepo-baby discourse, and is she selling a vagina-scented candle yet? We discuss. A Royal Vanishing Act & Does Fashion Hate Women?

Prince Andrew - the royal problem that just won't go away - has done just that, by giving up his royal titles. So, Amelia Lester and Claire Murphy join our royal correspondent Holly Wainwright to try understand - why now? Plus, does high fashion actually hate women?
