On March 17, 1929, Madison businessman Bascom B. Clarke, aged 77, passed away. He built a successful career in the city, founding and editing The American Thresherman, a national magazine covering farming equipment and innovations. Clarke also played a key role in starting the Dane County Telephone Company and was a generous philanthropist. Madison honors his legacy with B.B. Clarke Park and Beach, and his historic home. His work in business and community support leaves a lasting mark on the city.
