Oveta Culp Hobby, a trailblazing Texas woman, shattered barriers in politics, military, and government service. Born in 1905, she became the first female parliamentarian for the Texas House of Representatives, held a groundbreaking role in the Womens Army Corps during WWII, and served as the first secretary of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. She earned numerous honors and schools named after her, passing away in 1995 at age 90.
