Lubbock County Expo Center Project: A New Chapter Begins
After eight years of delays and debates, the Lubbock County Expo Center project is poised for progress. With voter approval in 2018 and a new county commission seated, the project is set to move forward. The private group leading the project, chaired by Randy Jordan, is working on fundraising and hiring architects. The projects total cost has risen to $67 million, with a new proposal from Parkhill Architects awaiting approval. The Local Government Corporation is overseeing progress, and construction manager Lee Lewis Construction is on board. Lubbock leaders are optimistic about finally breaking ground on this long-awaited community project.
