The Pentagon and FAA to Test Anti-Drone Laser Systems in New Mexico The Pentagon and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have agreed to conduct anti-drone laser tests in New Mexico, following recent incidents of military laser use causing unexpected airspace closures in Texas. The tests are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at the White Sands Missile Range, aiming to address FAA safety concerns and counter drone threats from Mexican cartels along the southern border. The militarys efforts come after a February incident where a laser was used to take down a drone near the border, which was later found to belong to Customs and Border Protection. The FAA welcomes the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of maintaining national airspace safety while addressing new drone threats. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth has called for an independent investigation into the February mishaps, while officials continue working on border drone issues.
