The FX TV show Shogun which also aired on Hulu, is a historical drama that tells the story of John Blackthorne, an English pilot who is shipwrecked in Japan in the 1600s. Blackthorne is taken captive by the local daimyo, Lord Toranaga, and he must learn to adapt to the unfamiliar culture and customs of Japan. The show is based on the novel of the same name by James Clavell, and it stars Cosmo Jarvis as Blackthorne aka Anjin, Hiroyuki Sanada as Toranaga and Anna Sawai as Toda Mariko. Shogun is a well-made and entertaining series that offers a fascinating glimpse into Japanese history and culture.
