Lakewoods baseball team secured their first win of the season, defeating Bellflower 8-2 in a nonleague game. The Lancers, now 1-6, relied on balanced hitting from seven players and solid pitching to end their six-game losing streak. Bellflower, short-handed due to injuries, suffered further when their starter left early with an elbow injury. Lakewood took an early lead with three runs in the third inning and added three more in the fifth. Coach Spud ONeil praised the teams improved performance, especially with timely hits and better defense. Starting pitcher Xavier Nunez delivered a strong performance, allowing just one earned run over four innings. Bellflowers offense, led by Noah Lopez and Anthony Herrera with two hits and an RBI each, couldnt overcome their defensive errors.
