CLIMB Central Long Beach: Empowering Neighborhoods, Not Gentrifying Them
CLIMB, a grassroots group in Central Long Beach, has been uplifting their community since 2011. Focusing on leadership, education, and real action, they tackle safety, connections, and civic power. Recently rebranded from AOC7, CLIMB stands for community, leadership, impact, movement, and belonging.
President Rocio Torres, a lifelong resident, emphasizes beautification over gentrification. CLIMBs initiatives include park investments, gun violence prevention, free community markets, and a Womens Leadership Symposium. Their efforts have led to safer streets, stronger voices, and real pride in the community.
CLIMB is currently running a book drive for their annual Literacy Fair on May 16th. Drop off books at Chase on Atlantic, Second Street, Good Time on Coronado, or order from Casita Book Stores wish list. Partners like the Port and Centro CHA are also contributing.
