This is the second in a series of me going in the field to find out how we can make London great again. I sat down with two titans of British business, Simon Woodroffe and Peter Dore-Smith to better understand the frustrations of real business leaders here in the city. The stranglehold on companies is also having a knock-on effect on people's mental health with a significant increase in stress levels, anxiety, loneliness and hopelessness reported during the pandemic. I was extremely concerned to hear that one in five unemployed people have reported suicidal thoughts and feelings. This is particularly concerning given the likely increase in unemployment that's coming due to the recession. We simply have to do a better job of getting people back into healthy working routines and enabling businesses to operate unimpeded. Join me as I take an in-depth look at the devastating results and cost-benefit of long term lockdowns. On Wednesday, our elected officials voted in Parliament on the latest measures which saw only 16 representatives out of 540 votes against a lockdown. Is this really the best strategy for our long term future? It is imperative that our elected officials represent us, our interests, our children's future, our mental health and our long term economic prospects. I believe it is extremely important not just now, but always, that we protect the vulnerable and elderly members of society. In the current climate, that takes the form of Focussed Protection. We must do our utmost to ensure that those who need it, receive priority attention and support, while the rest of the population continues to work and fuel the economy. How else can we ensure the necessary funding is in place to support our NHS, our police, our community support groups and of course avoid what is already an overwhelming debt caused by government borrowing. A deep and long-lasting recession will take many more lives than we have unfortunately borne witness to this last 10 months. The mental health overload will also remain with us for countless years to come. The Centre of Economics and Business Research has predicted that if the lockdown is lifted in mid-February, as Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggested, it will come at a cost of £390million every working day, while the London Ambulance Service reported late last year they are attending 37 suicides or attempted suicides per day. Unemployment is set to rocket once the dust settles in Spring and many businesses will have long since shut up shop, despite the unsustainable government bailouts. We must address these issues now as a matter of urgency. This short term approach has been proven ineffective already and our elected representatives MUST look at alternative solutions. The big, difficult questions need to be asked and answered. We cannot sit idly by and allow such a detrimental approach to wreak any more damage. Who is representing you and your future? THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF THE LONG-TERM LOCKDOWN It is only together that we can work our way through this terrible period in all of our lives. But, we must demand strong leadership, WE must hold those WE have elected accountable for THEIR actions. YOU have given them your vote to represent your interests and I would argue that right now many of these politicians are not fit for purpose. For me, it starts in London, the beating heart of the UK economy. We need to make this a world-class city once again. That is only possible through a change of leadership, a fresh set of ideas and a new direction, that can revitalise our economy and bring fresh hope to everyone. As your next Mayor of London, I plan to get London back to work by stimulating key sectors such as arts and hospitality, encourage the safe return of office workers, and implement science-based protocols city-wide to safely get people back to London to work, shop and visit. As an entrepreneur, I understand the struggles faced by small and medium-sized enterprises, businesses that make up 98% of the economy and will prioritise supporting these critical parts of our commercial landscape to improve the city for every one of its nine million inhabitants. Our plan of attack consists of the following key policies: Creating a six month, post-lockdown Congestion Charge Holiday by removing this prohibitive taxation in order to safely promote visits to the city and immediately boost the economy Creating a six month, post-lockdown Business Rates Holiday by removing business rates across the board for SMEs in Greater London Stimulating key sectors with expanded financial packages, specifically restaurants, cafes, nightclubs, retail and the hotel sector Encouraging the return of office workers to the world's financial capital by working with the top global financial service companies to safely bring back 25% of their office workers Implementing new science-based protocols for retail establishments to deal with Covid-19 responsibly but still stay in business Safely opening up our theatres, museum, concert arenas, and stadiums Promoting outdoor seating and the use of street parking spaces for all retail and hospitality businesses in London free of charge from local councils for six months Getting our children back to school which will promote all of the surrounding and dependent businesses

This week's topic is particularly close to my heart. As you may already be aware, I recently announced my candidacy to be your next Mayor of London and one of my foremost policies is Freedom Of Speech. The fight for Digital Freedom of Speech has been thrown into sharp relief during 2020 as social media technology giants, regulators and governments get involved in what citizens can say online. Free Speech and a Free Press are the most basic civil rights, which have been guaranteed for hundreds of years, and are fundamental to the democratic process. Wars have been fought over it, and people have died to protect these unalienable rights. I believe we all have the right to make up our own minds, to think about what we like, to say what we think, and most importantly to share our ideas with other people. Ideas, after all, are the currency of the present. In today's episode, I will be talking about why my beliefs around Freedom of Speech and the importance of broadcasting unedited, unscripted, uncensored content, as well as highlighting why the fight for Digital Freedom of Speech is so important. With incredible guests including John Cleese, Lord Michael Farmer and Dave Rubin all talking passionately and eloquently about their views on Freedom of Speech and the role of Silicon Valley tech giants as the self-appointed, de facto new censors, I am excited to share with you today's episode and invite you to join the fight for these most basic rights. Education is something very dear to my heart. It is the one tool that equalises all: giving an opportunity to anyone who is willing to put in the work to make themselves better. My grandparents and great-grandparents were very big on education. Even though they worked as farmers and cattlemen, they made sure every member of the family had a college degree. Education was, quite simply, non-negotiable. Unfortunately, we currently face dark times when it comes to education in London. According to a recent poll by the Prince's Trust, urgent action is needed now to prevent our 16-25-year-olds from becoming a "lost generation", with 41% of young people believing that their future goals now seem "impossible to achieve." This is unacceptable. We must put Education First to ensure that our younger generation gets the world-class education they deserve. One glaring barrier to that is that four out of five schools currently have children isolating because they can't get a test! Headteachers say that schools are being forced to close because so few tests are available and the system is chaotic and has ground to a halt.

She wants to spread awareness for children and allow them to have confidence in themselves since they're deserving of so much more. Being Different Life hasn't always been easy for Priyanka Chopra. In our chat, she discusses the bullying she received and how she used it to make her stronger. Starting at the young age of twelve, she was the target of racist comments and experienced bullying of all kinds due to her skin colour. However, if Priyanka Chopra knows anything, it's how to turn a situation around. She decided to fake her confidence and used it as a shield. That way, her school bully couldn't see that she was scared. She later recalls that she doesn't allow herself to be hurt or affected by those types of comments anymore. Priyanka explains, she doesn't want to be portrayed as a victim, especially as a woman, since that's all the world will see. Instead, she tries to let it go. When it happens, she uses her wit and sarcasm to call them out. There's nothing like strong-willed confidence to make a bully stand down. Confidence Is Key In today's world, beauty is set to a high and a rather unrealistic standard. However, beauty isn't everything. As a beauty pageant winner, Priyanka Chopra would know. It's the confidence in which you walk into a room and in the ability to do your job that propels you into feeling like a superhero. Such confidence can alleviate your worrisome insecurities and make you feel happy for who you are. Priyanka notes when you have confidence, you can do anything. She recalls her audition for Quantico in which her nervousness might have overwhelmed her if she didn't remain confident in her abilities. Since confidence can boost your self-esteem it makes you feel empowered. It's that array of confidence that increases your attractiveness and makes others feel that you're a valuable part of the team. Priyanka Chopra expresses that confidence is not a born skill; instead, it has to be learned. It takes time to understand, respect, and accept yourself for who you are as an individual. However, when you get to that point in your life, nothing will stop you. Confidence is the best way to truly be happy with who you are. How to Maintain Confidence Once you found your confidence, it can be pretty tricky to maintain it. You have to remind yourself over and over again, why you love yourself, and what about you makes you happy. It can be tiring and, at times, challenging. Even Priyanka Chopra has struggled with maintaining her confidence. In our interview, she discusses how she's able to regain confidence time and time again by looking back on her success. She explains that if you have a "go-getter" attitude, you can get anything accomplished. So she works hard to prove not only to the others around her but to herself that she deserves the roles she's been given. Acknowledging that she's, in fact, deserving of those parts is certainly an ego booster
