Bad playcalling among the biggest threats to derailing Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2024

Arizona State Sun Devils football is looking to turn the page in 2024 after a rough 2023 season. Kenny Dillingham's debut in Tempe wasn't what most wanted, but there were plenty of factors that led to the team's failures, perhaps none more so than injuries. However, going into this season the hope is the injury bug has left the team. So, now what could threaten to derail Arizona State Sun Devils football in 2024? Between playcalling, quarterback play, and defensive turnovers, there are plenty of ways that the Sun Devils could stumble on this year. The playcalling specifically on offense needs to improve after the failures under Beau Baldwin last season. Marcus Arroyo was brought in to take over and there's plenty of optimism surrounding the former UNLV head coach. He'll have his work cut out with him with the quarterback position, which while it has talent is plenty unstable entering the year. Whether it's youngster Sam Leavitt or a veteran like Trenton Bourguet or Jeff Sims, the Sun Devils will only go as far as their quarterbacks can take them. The offense could also use some help from the defense and get some extra possessions through turnovers, an area where the Sun Devils struggled defensively.
