Team Canada faced serious adversity against Czechia, losing captain Sidney Crosby to an awkward lower-body injury after collisions with Radko Gudas and Martin Necas. Despite the setback, Canada rallied and advanced thanks to a spectacular backhand overtime winner from Mitch Marner.

Meanwhile, Team USA survived a massive test against Sweden. After Sweden tied the game late in the third period with a Mika Zibanejad one-timer, Quinn Hughes took over. Playing nearly 28 minutes, Hughes refused to leave the ice in overtime and netted an unbelievable game-winning goal. The guys also highlight the stellar play of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who boasts a .958 save percentage for the tournament.
