The Orlando Magic opened their training camp as they always do, by getting back to basics. As critical as the Magic need to improve their offense, their identity starts on defense. And they are spending the early days of practice making sure this foundation is strong as they build for the rest of the season.
That does not mean the offense is getting some short shrift. Coach Jamahl Mosley has a plan to help boost the offense. It is not just about scoring more points or making more threes. It is about playing faster, getting out in transition and trying to steal more easy points that the team was not getting last year.
The offense indeed will be different this year.
