The Orlando Magic steered clear of a blockbuster Trae Young despite years of people trying to connect him to the Magic in a potential trade.
The Magic were never hunting for a blockbuster trade this season with the team's cap situation. Instead, they are trying to thread a very fine needle -- improving the roster while also shedding $5.6 million in salary to get under the tax. Fulfilling that goal will be difficult. But the Magic should have the flexibility and options to move to get under the tax and avoid beginning their repeater clock.
With the team's injuries, the Magic still do not know what they have and still do not know what they will need to take their next step. Orlando is still in the thick of a tight Eastern Conference race.
