The San Francisco Giants led by five runs entering the seventh inning tonight, but the embattled bunch found another way to give away a sure win, falling 9-8 to the St Louis Cardinals. The bullpen surrendered six runs in just three innings of work, using four relievers to get through the three innings. The eight runs the San Francisco Giants offense produced were nice, but ultimately not enough. Logan Webb pitched well enough to earn a win in this one and passed the 200-inning mark for the third consecutive season. With the loss, the San Francisco Giants are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
