South Carolina Spring Practice Standouts 👀 Two DEFENDERS Turning Heads Early!

South Carolina spring practice is underway, and several defensive standouts are already turning heads in Columbia. In this episode we break down two Gamecocks defenders making serious noise early: linebacker Justin Okoronkwo and safety J'zavien Currence. Okoronkwo has been one of the most impressive athletes on the field so far this spring. The former international prospect brings elite size, speed, and physicality to the linebacker room and looks poised to carve out a major role in the defense. His range and ability to attack downhill have already stood out during early practices. Meanwhile, Currence continues to show why the Gamecocks’ secondary could be one of the more aggressive units in the SEC this season. The experienced defensive back has flashed strong coverage instincts, versatility, and leadership in the back end of the defense as South Carolina continues to build depth in the secondary. But the conversation doesn’t stop with football. In the second segment, we take a deep dive into the end of the South Carolina basketball season and the bigger question surrounding the program’s future. With the Gamecocks finishing another difficult year on the hardwood, the debate is heating up around how the athletic department should allocate resources moving forward. Should South Carolina invest more money into men’s basketball to try to compete in the SEC, or does it make more financial sense to double down on baseball, a sport where the Gamecocks have historically been one of the nation’s elite programs? We break down the financial realities of modern college athletics, including NIL, coaching buyouts, facility investments, and how schools are prioritizing sports in the new revenue-sharing era. Topics covered in this video: • South Carolina spring practice defensive standouts • Justin Okoronkwo’s potential impact at linebacker • J'zavien Currence emerging as a leader in the secondary • What we learned from the Gamecocks’ basketball season • The financial debate: investing in basketball vs baseball • How NIL and revenue sharing are shaping athletic department decisions Subscribe for more SEC football analysis, spring practice updates, and college sports business breakdowns. #SouthCarolina #Gamecocks #SECFootball #CollegeFootball #SouthCarolinaFootball #SEC #CollegeSports #GamecockNation JOIN THE EVERYDAYER CLUB https://lockedongamecocks.supercast.com/ Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms… 🎧 https://link.chtbl.com/LOGamecocks?sid=YouTube Locked On College Conferences, HBCU, Basketball & More 🎧 https://linktr.ee/LockedOnCollege Follow on social media Twitter/X: @vern_funquist Twitter/X: @LockedOnSC Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100091552218542
