Your thyroid is a small gland with a big job. It controls our metabolism and EVERYONE wants a faster metabolism.
If we buy a new car we expect it to be able to go fast. However, if that car is pulling a small trailer we understand that we should keep it off the Indy 500 racetrack.
As humans, though, we might not understand what is slowing us down.
Unfortunately, last night’s dinner might be partly to blame. Food and stress, stress and food. When a stressful situation emerges, your body calls for Cortisol – the stress hormone. Cortisol produces blood sugar, to give you the energy to engage in the battle.
Blood sugar produces insulin – the fat-storing hormone. As you gain weight, you run the risk of minimizing or completely becoming immune to the signal telling you to stop eating. Of course, when we are stressed, we want to eat.
