We have to renew our minds because it’s so easy to go back to the old way of thinking. We are made new in Christ and our past identity no longer is who we are. Like a football player being traded to a new team, we have put on a new jersey in Christ. We played for the enemy, but now we have been put on a new team. Guilt can be helpful in showing us something is wrong. Shame, on the other hand, comes from unresolved guilt and accuses us of being something we are not. Grace is the weapon to fight shame.
