S1 Ep 228How Can the Holy Spirit Help Us? // Masashi Shibuya
God is with us, and He wants to help us! At Pentecost, we received the ultimate gift—the Holy Spirit. Discover how the Holy Spirit can empower you today!———————————————————God is with You and He Wants to Help Jesus’s Love For Peter(John 21:15-19 NIV) When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” (16) Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” (17) The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. (18) Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” (19) Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”Promise of Jesus (Helper)(Acts 1:4-5 NIV) On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. (5) For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”(Acts 1:8 NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. The Day of Pentecost(Acts 2:1-4 NIV) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (2) Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (4) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. The Holy Spirit Enables Us To Be Strong LeadersPeter Preaches the Good News with Boldness(Acts 2:38-41 NIV) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (40) With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” (41) Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.How Can the Holy Spirit Help Us?(Acts 1:8 NLT)But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.(Acts 2:1-4 ERV)When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (2) Suddenly a noise came from heaven. It sounded like a strong wind blowing. This noise filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) They saw something that looked like flames of fire. The flames were separated and stood over each person there. (4) They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak different languages. The Holy Spirit was giving them the power to do this.(Acts 2:14,38 ERV)Then Peter stood up with the other eleven apostles. He spoke loudly so that all the people could hear. He said, “My Jewish brothers and all of you who live in Jerusalem, listen to me. I will tell you something you need to know. Listen carefully… (37) When the people heard this, they felt very, very sorry. They asked Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” (38) Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(Acts 2:41 ERV)Then those who accepted what Peter said were baptized. On that day about 3000 people were added to the group of believers. The Holy Spirit Helps Us(Romans 5:5 ERV)And this hope will never disappoint us. We know this because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts through the Holy Spirit he gave us.The Holy Spirit Helps Us Help Others(Romans 12:6-8 ERV)We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have. (7) Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach. (8) Whoever has the gift of comforting others should do that. Whoever has the gift of giving to help others should give generously. Whoever has the gift of leading should work hard at it. Whoever has the gift of showing kindness to others should do it gladly.(

S1 Ep 227Resurrection Day is Celebration Day // Rod Plummer
Why do we Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus? What does this special day mean for the world, and for you and me? Join us to experience the joy of Jesus’s victory as we celebrate Easter Sunday together!———————————————————Resurrection Day is Celebration Day(Hebrews 12:2 NIV)Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God(Ephesians 1:7 NIV)In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.(John 20:1-2 NIV)Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. (2) So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”(John 20:14-16 NIV)At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. (15) He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” (16) Jesus said to her, “Mary.”(John 20:19-20 NIV)On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” (20) After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord."Joy to the World(Luke 2:10 NIV)But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people."Joy to the Cities(Acts 8:8 NIV)So there was great joy in that city.Joy to You and I(Psalm 126:1-3 NIV)When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. (2) Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them.” (3) The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.Questions: Why should we fix our eyes on Jesus, as Hebrews 12:2 says?Ephesians 1:7 talks about redemption and forgiveness through Jesus. How can knowing you are forgiven change the way you live and interact with others?Mary didn’t recognize Jesus at first (John 20:14-16). Do you recognize Jesus working in your life? What did Jesus bring to his disciples when He appeared to them? (John 20:19-20). How can you share this peace and joy with others in our daily lives?Resurrection Day is a celebration of victory over sin and death. How do people know that God has done great things for them? S1 Ep 226At the Cross -- The Power of Jesus's Death // Monty Plummer
What happened at the Cross? Forgiveness, Love, Salvation, and Victory came at a price. Tune in this week to learn how the power of Jesus’s victory can impact our lives!----------------------------------At the Cross - The Power of Jesus’s Death(Mark 15:15 NLT) So to pacify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.(Mark 15:17-20 NLT)They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. (18) Then they saluted him and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” (19) And they struck him on the head with a reed stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in mock worship. (20) When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.(Luke 23:34 NLT)Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.Forgiveness(John 19:26-27 NLT)When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” (27) And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.Love (Luke 23:39-43 NLT)One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!” (40) But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? (41) We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” (42) Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” (43) And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”Salvation (John 19:30 NLT)When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.TETELESTAI (Luke 23:47 NLT)When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.”(Mark 15:39 NLT)When the Roman officer who stood facing him saw how he had died, he exclaimed, “This man truly was the Son of God!”(Colossians 2:13-15 NLT)You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. (14) He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. (15) In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.Connect Group Questions:What happens to our sins when we are made alive with Christ? S1 Ep 225How Do I Fight Back When Life Gets Tough? // Richard Welsh
How do you fight back when life gets tough? Jesus showed the way—with God's Word, the Sword of the Spirit! How do we use this powerful weapon? Find out this week!---------------------------------How Do I Fight Back When Life Gets Tough?(Ephesians 6:17 NLT) Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.(Matthew 4:1-4 NIV) Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (2) After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. (3) The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” (4) Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”Know Your Weaknesses & Know The Word(Psalm 119:11 NIV) I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.(Colossians 3:23 NLT)Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.(1 John 1:9 NLT)But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.(Matthew 4:5-7 NIV)Then the devil took Him to the holy city and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. (6) “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’” (7) Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”Know the Enemy’s Lies & Know The Truth(Ephesians 4:14 NLT)Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.(2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, (17) so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.(Matthew 4:8-11 NIV)Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. (9) “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” (10) Jesus said to him, “Away from Me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’” (11) Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him.Attack With Scripture Quickly & With Faith(James 4:7 NIV)Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.(Ephesians 6:10 ERV)A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. ---------------------------------Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

S1 Ep 224"How Can I Have Better Mental Health? Helmet of Salvation" // Monty Plummer
How can we improve our mental health? The Helmet of Salvation protects our thoughts and guards our hearts! When we declare Jesus as Lord, we begin to experience His transformative power!-------------------------------How Can I Have Better Mental Health?Helmet of Salvation(Ephesians 6:10-11, 17a NLT) A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (11) Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. …(17) Put on salvation as your helmet.(Romans 10:9-10 NLT) If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.(Proverbs 4:23 NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.(Proverbs 4:23 NLT) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.(Proverbs 4:23 ERV) Above all, be careful what you think because your thoughts control your life.(Luke 8:35-36 NIV) And the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. (36) Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. We Need to Get PROACTIVE with Our Thoughts! (Mark 7:20 NLT 1996) And then he added, “It is the thought-life that defiles you.”(Colossians 2:8-9 NLT) Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. (9) For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.(2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NLT) We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. (4) We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. (5) We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.Think Like God Wants Us To (Colossians 3:1-2 NLT) Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. (2) Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. (Philippians 4:8-9 NLT) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (9) Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.Change Your Thinking in a Moment!(Romans 12:2 NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.(Colossians 3:10 NLT) Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.(Colossians 3:14-15 NLT) Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. (15) And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS:How do we put salvation as our helmet? (Ephesians 6:17a, Romans 10:9-10 NLT / 10:9-10 JCB) Why is it important to guard our thoughts? S1 Ep 222Peace that Comes from the Good News // Masashi Shibuya
What is Good News? And how is peace connected to Good News? What kind of message does God want to share with us? Let’s learn how to tune into His voice!------------------------------Peace that Comes from the Good News(Ephesians 6:10 ERV)A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (Ephesians 6:15 NLT)For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.(Acts 8:26-38 NLT)As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (27) So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, (28) and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. (29) The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” (30) Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” (31) The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him. (32) The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. (33) He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” (34) The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?” (35) So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus. (36) As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” (38) He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.Always Be Ready (2 Timothy 4:2 NLT) Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.(Colossians 4:5-6 NLT) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. (6) Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.Brush Off Any Disappointments (Matthew 10:14 NLT) If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave.Follow and Be Obedient to the Voice of God (Romans 10:14-15 NLT)But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (15) And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS:What is the product of Good News? (Ephesians 6:15 NLT)How was Philip ready to share about Jesus? (Acts 8:26-38 NLT)What does it mean to always be ready to share about Jesus? S1 Ep 221What is Righteousness? How Do I Know I Have It? // Monty Plummer
Ever wondered how you can be made right with God? Why is God’s grace—a gift we can’t earn? Find out more in this week's message.---------------------------What is Righteousness? How Do I Know I Have It?(Ephesians 6:10-12 NLT)A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (11) Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. (12) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.(1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT)Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (9) Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.(Ephesians 6:13-14 NLT)Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. (14) Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. (Proverbs 4:23 NIV)Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.(Proverbs 4:23 NLT)Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.(Romans 5:1 NLT)Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Made Right with God by FAITH in Jesus(Romans 5:8-9 NIV)But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (9) And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. (Luke 19:5-10 NIV)When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” (6) Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. (7) But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they grumbled. (8) Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!” (9) Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. (10) For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”You Have Been Made 100% Righteous by JesusStand Firm in Your Salvation(Colossians 2:13-15 NIV) You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. (14) He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. (15) In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS:What does it mean to be made righteous by faith in Jesus? (Romans 5:8-9 NIV)Why is it important to stand firm in our salvation? (Colossians 2:13-15 NIV) What can we learn from Zacchaeus about following Jesus? What does it mean to put on the Belt of Truth?-----------------------------------THE BELT OF TRUTH(Ephesians 6:10 NLT)A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.(Ephesians 6:11-13 NLT)Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. (12) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (13) Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.THE BELT THAT HOLDS IT ALL TOGETHER(Ephesians 6:14 NLT)Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth…JOSEPH’S IDENTITY: “I BELONG TO GOD”(Genesis 39:2-3 NLT)The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. (3) Potiphar noticed this and realized that the LORD was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.(1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT)Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, (20) for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.(Genesis 39:6b NLT)Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man…(Genesis 39:7 NLT)… and Potiphar's wife soon began to look at him lustfully. "Come and sleep with me," she demanded.TEMPTATION’S LIE: “IT WON’T HURT ANYONE”(Acts 3:19-20a NLT)Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. (20) Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord…WISE BOUNDARIES AND BE PREPARED TO RUN(Genesis 39:10 NLT)She kept putting pressure on Joseph day after day, but he refused to sleep with her, and he kept out of her way as much as possible. (Genesis 39:11-12 NLT)One day, however, no one else was around when he went in to do his work. (12) She came and grabbed him by his cloak, demanding, "Come on, sleep with me!" Joseph tore himself away, but he left his cloak in her hand as he ran from the house.(1 Corinthians 6:18 NLT)Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.BE STRONG IN TRUTH (John 14:6a NLT)Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.”(John 8:32 NLT)And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS:What does it mean to wear the "belt of truth" in our daily lives? Can you share a time when you had to stand firm in your faith? S1 Ep 219Is Forgiving a Sign of Weakness? // Masashi Shibuya
Forgiveness is powerful! It’s not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it takes strength to forgive and love as Jesus did. Join us as we learn how to practice some daily habits of forgiveness. It will change your attitude, and most importantly your relationships.———————————————————Is Forgiving a Sign of Weakness? Forgiving is STRONG (Ephesians 6:10 NLT) A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Love is Strong(1 Corinthians 13:5-6 NLT) It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. (6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.(Luke 7:44-48 NLT) Then he by turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. (45) You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. (46) You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume. (47) I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” (48) Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”Love Keeps No Records of Wrongs(Ephesians 4:26-27 NIV) “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, (27) and do not give the devil a foothold. Daily Habit to Forgive(Matthew 6:12 NLT) And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. We Can Forgive Because We Have Been Forgiven Much (Luke 7:47 NLT) I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.(Colossians 3:12-14 NLT) Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. (13) Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. (14) Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. Clothe Yourself with God’s Strength Free to Love Again(Galatians 5:13 NLT) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.(1 John 4:19 NLT) We love each other because he loved us first.———————————————————Connect Group Questions:Why does God want us to forgive (Col 3:13-15, Gal 5:13)?What happens when we don't forgive? How can you apply the Habits of Forgiveness to your life?Don’t keep a record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5). S1 Ep 218Strong Love // Rod Plummer
Love is strong. It doesn’t celebrate evil but finds joy in the truth. Join us as we dive deep into the meaning of love through powerful scriptures, real-life examples, and the strength we gain from God’s truth.————————————————Strong Love (1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV) "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth".(Matthew 19:4-5 NIV) “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female, (5) and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?”(Genesis 2:15-18 NIV) The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (16) And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; (17) but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (18) The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”(Genesis 3:1-5 ICB) "Now the snake was the most clever of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day the snake spoke to the woman. He said, “Did God really say that you must not eat fruit from any tree in the garden?” (2) The woman answered the snake, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden. (3) But God told us, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. You must not even touch it, or you will die.’” (4) But the snake said to the woman, “You will not die. (5) God knows that if you eat the fruit from that tree, you will learn about good and evil. Then you will be like God!”(John 8:44 ESV) You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.(Genesis 3:6-7 NIV) When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (7) Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.Grow And Learn (James 1:16-18 NIV) Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. (17) Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (18) He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.Hold of God’s Word (Matthew 7:24-25 NIV) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (25) The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock".The Power of Praying with 2 or 3 (Matthew 18:20 NIV) For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.Shake off that Snake (Acts 28:3-5 NIV) Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. (4) When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.” (5) But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. (1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV) "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”————————————————Connect Group Questions:Why did God create man and woman to be together? Why do you think the “truth” helps us to have good relationships? How can praying together help in our relationships? How can we trust God when we face challenges and “shake off the snake” like Paul? What does it mean to celebrate truth instead of evil?————————————————Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

S1 Ep 217What is Love? // Richard Welsh
What is true love? It’s not just a feeling—it’s patience, kindness, and choosing to love others even when it's challenging. This week, our prayer is that you will experience the transformational power of God’s love.---------------------------------------What Is Love?(1 Corinthians 12:31 NLT)So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.Love is the Greatest Goal(1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT)Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud (5) or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. (6) It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. (7) Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.Isaac & Rebekah: An Imperfect Love Story(Genesis 24:17-20 NLT)Running over to her, the servant said, "Please give me a little drink of water from your jug." (18) "Yes, my lord," she answered, "have a drink." And she quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and gave him a drink. (19) When she had given him a drink, she said, "I'll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink." (20) So she quickly emptied her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw water for all his camels.Love Seeks the Other’s Flourishing(Genesis 24:67 NLT) And Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah's tent, and she became his wife. He loved her deeply, and she was a special comfort to him after the death of his mother.Love Commits to Grow and Persevere(Genesis 25:21 NLT)Isaac pleaded with the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was unable to have children. The LORD answered Isaac's prayer, and Rebekah became pregnant with twins.(Genesis 26:1a NLT)A severe famine now struck the land...More God, More Love(1 John 4:7-8 NLT) Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. [8] But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.(1 John 4:15,17a NLT) All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God (17a) And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.(Ephesians 6:10 NLT)A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Questions:- Can you name the things that "love is" and that "love is not"?- Can you share any examples of when you persevered in love?- Why is it important to pray when we need help from God?- How does God show His love through His plan for us?- How can we grow stronger in love?————————————————Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

S1 Ep 216How Can I Be a Better Friend? // Monty Plummer
Let's dive into the first message of this month's series as we learn about managing and maintaining great friendships!----------------------------How Can I Be a Better Friend?(Matthew 22:37-39 NIV)Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ (38) This is the first and greatest commandment. (39) A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”(Matthew 7:12 NIV)Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.(Mark 2:1-12 NIV) When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. (2) Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, (3) four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. (4) They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. (5) Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” (6) But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, (7) “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!” (8) Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? (9) Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk’? (10) So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, (11) “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” (12) And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”Love God(Proverbs 27:17 NIV)As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.Love OurselvesLove Others(Proverbs 17:17 NIV)A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.“Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future.”----------------------Connect Group Questions: • Why is it important to love God with all we have? • What do you think “love your neighbor as yourself” means? • How did the paralyzed man’s friends show love? • How can friends help each other grow? • What makes a good friend?----------------------Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

S1 Ep 206Wouldn't It Be Great To Be Invited? // Monty Plummer
Was there ever a party you really wanted to go to but didn’t get an invite? We have really great news for you! God is throwing a party and you’re invited. Do you want to know how to get ready for the party and which friends to bring? Then join us this week to find out more.--------------------------------------------Wouldn’t It Be Great To Be Invited?(Luke 14:15 NLT) Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed, “What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God!”(Luke 14:16-17 NLT) Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. (17) When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, “Come, the banquet is ready.”(Luke 14:18-20 NLT) But they all began making excuses. One said, “I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.” (19) Another said, “I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.” (20) Another said, “I just got married, so I can’t come.”(Luke 14:21-24 NLT) “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, “Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.” (22) After the servant had done this, he reported, “There is still room for more.” (23) So his master said, “Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full. (24) For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.”(John 15:16 NLT) You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.Stop Making Excuses Have The Right Priorities Let’s Invite Because We Are Invited (Romans 10:13-15 NLT) For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (14) But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (15) And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”--------------------------------------------Connect Group Questions:What are some common excuses people make for not responding to God’s invitation? How can we make the right priorities in our lives, according to these passages? What does it mean to you that Jesus chose you and invited you to be part of His Kingdom? S1 Ep 202What does Jesus value? // Masashi Shibuya
What does Jesus value? Do I have to earn or work for his grace?Tune in and see how Jesus values our relationship with Him above all else and how we are saved by his grace, not our works.-----------------------------------WHAT DOES JESUS VALUE? (Matthew 13:45-46 NLT) “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. (46) When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!(Luke 10:38-42 NLT) As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. (39) Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. (40) But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” (41) But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! (42) There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”JESUS VALUES TIME & RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU(Luke 10:39 NLT) Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.(Phlippians 3:8-11 NLT) Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ (9) and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. (10) I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, (11) so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!(John 15:5 NLT) Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.JESUS VALUES GRACE & NOT WORKS - LIVING FROM GRACE AND NOT FOR GRACE (Luke 10:40-42) But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” (41) But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!(Romans 11:6 NLT) And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.(Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— (9) not by works, so that no one can boast.JESUS VALUES HIS PEOPLE (1 Timothy 2:3-6 NLT) This is good and pleases God our Savior, (4) who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. (5) For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. (6) He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.-----------------------------------Connect Group QuestionsWhat does Jesus value most in our relationship with Him?(Luke 10:39, Philippians 3:8-10)How can we live from grace rather than for grace?(Luke 10:40-42, Romans 11:6)What does it mean to seek out real value in life, according to Jesus?(Matthew 13:45-46)How do we balance living with an eternal perspective while making the most of our time on earth?(2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Hebrews 12:1)Why does Jesus value His people and their salvation so deeply?(1 Timothy 2:3-6)-----------------------------------Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.(Matthew 25:14 NLT) Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. WE ARE ALL STEWARDS(1 Peter 4:10 NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (Matthew 25:15 NLT) He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last-dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.GOD-GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY COMES WITH GOD-GIVEN ABILITY(Matthew 25:16-18 NLT) The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. (17) The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more. (18) But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master's money. (Hebrews 12:2 NIV) Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.(Matthew 25:19-20 NLT) After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money. (20) The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, 'Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.' (Matthew 25:23 NLT) The master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let's celebrate together!”GOD-GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY IS PART OF THE REWARD(Matthew 25:24-28 NLT) Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, “Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn't plant and gathering crops you didn't cultivate. (25) I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.” (26) But the master replied, “You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn't plant and gathered crops I didn't cultivate, (27) why didn't you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.” (28) Then he ordered, “Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver.”THE JOY AND REWARD OF GOOD STEWARDSHIP (Matthew 25:29 NLT) To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.----------------------------------Connect Group QuestionsWhat does it mean to "invest in eternity," and how can we do that with what God has given us? S1 Ep 200How do I live for eternity? // Monty Plummer
Heaven sounds great, but what do we do in the meantime? Is there a purpose for us on earth? Find how to live for eternity today by living life on mission.——————————————————————HOW DO I LIVE FOR ETERNITY?(Matthew 25:1-13 NLT) “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. (2) Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. (3) The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, (4) but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. (5) When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. (6) “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ (7) “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. (8) Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ (9) “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’ (10) “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. (11) Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ (12) “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ (13) “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.WE ARE SAVED SO THAT WE CAN DO GOOD WORKS(Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. (9) Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. (10) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.LIVE ON MISSION(Ephesians 4:1 NLT) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.(2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT) That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. (17) For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! (18) So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.——————————————————————Connect Group Questions:● Why is it important to be ready for Jesus' return, like the wise bridesmaids? S1 Ep 199I want to go to Heaven one day, but not today! // Rod Plummer
What is heaven like? Who can go? What will life be like there? Ps Rod answers all these questions and more in this week's message from our new series Now and for Eternity!----------------------------I WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN ONE DAY, BUT NOT TODAY!(Revelation 5:11-12 NIV) "Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. (12) In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”THE BEAUTY OF "PARADISE" (Luke 23:42-43 NIV) "Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom.” (43) He (Jesus) said, “Don’t worry, I will. Today you will join me in paradise.”(Genesis 2:8-10 MSG) "God planted a garden in Eden, in the east. He put the Man he had just made in it. God made all kinds of trees grow from the ground, trees beautiful to look at and good to eat. The Tree-of-Life was in the middle of the garden, also the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil. A river flows out of Eden to water the garden and from there divides into four rivers." (Isaiah 11:6 MSG) The wolf will romp with the lamb, the leopard sleep with the kid. Calf and lion will eat from the same trough, and a little child will tend them.(Psalm 8:3,9 NIV) When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, ... (9) Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!THE AMAZING COMMUNITY (Luke 16:22-23 MSG) Then he (Lazarus) died, this poor man, and was taken up by the angels to the lap of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell and in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap.(Revelation 21:3-4 MSG) I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone.” The Enthroned continued, “Look! I’m making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate.THE AUDACIOUS LIFESTYLE (John 14:1-3 NIV) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. (2) My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.(Revelation 21:10-12 MSG) "He took me away in the Spirit to an enormous, high mountain and showed me Holy Jerusalem descending out of Heaven from God, resplendent in the bright glory of God. (Revelation 21:12-14 MSG) The City shimmered like a precious gem, light-filled, pulsing light. She had a wall majestic and high with twelve gates, 26-27)(1 Corinthians 15:20 NIV) "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.(1 Corinthians 15:42-44 NIV) "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; (43) it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; (44) it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body."(Matthew 25:21 NIV) His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’(1 Corinthians 3:12-15 NIV) If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, (13) their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. (14) If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. (15) If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.(Revelation 3:21) To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne."(Luke 19:15-19) “He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it. (16) “The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more. (17) “‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’ (18) “The second came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned five more.’ (19) “His master answered, ‘You take charge of five cities.’(John 3:16 NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.----------------------------Connect Group Question

S1 Ep 198Use Your Gifts to Make a Difference // Masashi Shibuya
What do I do if I want more out of life? Where can I use my God given gifts and talents? This week we talk about how serving in the church can change our lives and the lives of others also!-----------------------------USE YOUR GIFTS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE (Matthew 5:14-16 NLT) “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. (15) No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. (16) In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.GOD HAS GIVEN YOU GIFTS AND PLANS (Ephesian 2:10 NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.(1 Peter 4:10 NLT) God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.DON’T HIDE YOUR LIGHT (Ecclesiastes 11:4 NLT) Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.(Psalm 23:1 NLT) The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.(Luke 16:10 NIV) Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.SHINE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR CITY (Matthew 5:15b-16 NLT) Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. S1 Ep 197Why Should I Belong to a Church? // Richard Welsh
What does it mean to be planted in the church? And why is it important? This week we look into why God wants us to be planted in a local church and how putting down roots can help us and the church grow!-----------------------------------WHY SHOULD I BELONG TO A CHURCH?GOD’S DESIGN IS FOR US TO FLOURISH IN HIS HOUSE(Psalm 92:13 NIV) Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE PLANTED IN GOD’S HOUSE?(Acts 8:29-31 NLT) The Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and walk along beside the carriage." (30) Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" (31) The man replied, "How can I, unless someone instructs me?" And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.(Acts 8:34-35 NLT) The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?" (35) So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.BE IN THE SOIL: KEEP SHOWING UP TO YOUR CHURCHPUT YOUR ROOTS DOWN: INVEST YOUR HEART IN YOUR CHURCH(Hebrews 10:24 NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.(Luke 5:33 NIV) They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”COMMIT TO A LOCAL CHURCH(Hebrews 10:25 AMPC) Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.(Acts 8:36-38 NLT) As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "Look! There's some water! Why can't I be baptized?" (38) He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.(Ephesians 4:11-13 NLT) Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. (12) Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. (13) This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.CLOSER TO JESUS-----------------------------------Connect Group QuestionsWhat does it mean to be "planted" in a church? S1 Ep 196The Church - Why Do I need Connect Group? // Monty Plummer
What kind of community is the church? Can you come closer to God at church? Can you make friends at church? Find out how you can experience personal growth and encouragement through amazing relationships in the church.——————————————————————————THE CHURCH - WHY DO I NEED CONNECT GROUP?(Colosians 1:9-10 NLT) So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. (10) Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.(Acts 2:42-47 NLT) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. (43) A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. (44) And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. (45) They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. (46) They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— (47) all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.(Acts 5:42 NLT) And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: “Jesus is the Messiah.”(Psalm 84:10a NLT) Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.PERSONAL GROWTH ENCOURAGEMENT (Ephesians 4:14-15 NLT) Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. (15) Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.PRAYERAMAZING RELATIONSHIPS (Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. (25) And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.——————————————————————————Connect Group QuestionsWhy is it important to join a Connect Group in the church? How can being part of a Connect Group help us grow spiritually? What are some ways we can encourage each other in a Connect Group? Why is praying together in a group important? How do strong relationships in a Connect Group benefit our faith?——————————————————————————Connect with us:Web: mylifehouse.comInstagram: instagram.com/lifehouseglobal/Facebook: facebook.com/lifehouseglobalOther Podcasts:Want to listen to our messages in other languages?Lifehouse Japan (Japanese & English): https://lifehousejapan.captivate.fm/listen Lifehouse Hong Kong (Cantonese & English): https://lifehousehongkong.captivate.fm/listen

Tune in this week to see how God’s unshakable church is still impacting the world today and how you can be a part of it!————————————UNSHAKABLE: THE STORY OF THE CHURCHWHAT HAPPENED THEN (AT THE START)? (Matthew 16:18) And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.(Hebrews 12:28) Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.(Isaiah 55:11) So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty. But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.(Acts 1:8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.HOW MANY RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT? ALL WHO SEEKS JESUS!(Acts 2:1-4) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. (2) Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. (4) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.(Romans 8:9) You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.HOW MANY PRAISE LANGUAGES? CALL TO ALL PEOPLE TO COME AND WORSHIP!(Acts 2:8) Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?(Acts 2:17) In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.WHO CAN BE SAVED? ALL WHO BELIEVE!(Acts 2:37-38, 41) When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (38) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.WHAT DID THEY DO ON THE FIRST DAY? SERVED THE LORD WITH JOY!(Acts 2:42) "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." (Acts 2:46-47) Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, (47) praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW? THE "GOSPEL" GOING TO THE WHOLE WORLD(Psalm 113:3) From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets the name of the Lord is to be praised.(Isaiah 59:19) From the west, people will fear the name of the Lord, and from the rising of the sun, they will revere his glory. For he will come like a pent-up flood that the breath of the Lord drives along.WHAT'S HAPPENING FUTURE? "ALL THE EARTH REACHED!"(Habbakuk 2:14) For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.(Revelation 5:9 In heaven future) And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation."(Revelation 7:9) … from every tribe and language and people and nation."SO HOW SHALL WE THEN LIVE?" S1 Ep 194Church: God’s Master Plan // Richard Welsh
God’s Church has been around for a long time. It comes in all different shapes and sizes. Maybe you have seen a church or maybe you have attended. But what is God’s Church? Why is it important? This month we are looking into the history and importance of the Church through our new series called God’s Community - The Church!———————————————CHURCH: GOD’S MASTER PLANGOD WANTS A FAMILY(Ephesians 2:19 TLB) Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God's very own family, citizens of God's country, and you belong in God's household with every other Christian.EKKLESIA - “THE CALLED-OUT ONE’S”(Ephesians 2:21-22 TLB) We who believe are carefully joined together with Christ as parts of a beautiful, constantly growing temple for God. (22) And you also are joined with him and with each other by the Spirit and are part of this dwelling place of God.(Ephesians 3:3, 5 NLT) As I briefly wrote earlier, God himself revealed his mysterious plan to me…. (5) God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets.CHURCH IS GOD’S PLAN(Ephesians 3:6 NLT) And this is God's plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God's children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.ONE BIG EXTENDED FAMILY, WITH MANY UNIQUE HOUSEHOLDS(Hebrews 10:25 TLB) Let us not neglect our church meetings, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.(Psalm 92:13 NIV) Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.GOD’S ETERNAL PLAN WAS YOU FLOURISHING IN A CHURCH(Ephesians 3:10-11 NLT) God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. (11) This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.(Ephesians 3:20-21 NLT) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (21) Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.———————————————Connect Group QuestionsWhat does it mean to be part of God’s family?
