Yesterday was the eighth day of Christmas. In the Western ecclesiastical tradition, the celebration of Christmas begins with the birth of our Savior and continues right up to the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6. Coincidently it falls on January 1. But instead of simply the start of a new calendar and fireworks, Luke takes note a very significant event which almost goes unnoticed in the life of our newborn Savior.
