Episode 221: The Unsolved Mystery Of The Betz Sphere
On March 27, 1974, a small brush fire broke out on Fort George Island near Jacksonville, Florida. Located near the edge of a property owned by the affluent Betz family, the fire wasn’t large enough to cause much damage, but the rising smoke spotted out the window of the family home warranted a check-up, at the very least. As 21-year-old Terry Betz cautiously approached the small blaze, he could have never predicted what he would find. There, at the bottom of that small fire burning in the underbrush, was an object that would change his life forever. The strange object was a metallic sphere, no larger than a bowling ball, perfectly smooth and round. Once the fire was extinguished, Terry took the metallic sphere home with him so he could inspect it more closely, but he and the rest of the Betz Family soon realized that the object seemed to have a mind of its own. On today’s episode of Let’s Get Haunted, we’ll take a closer look at this story - and others like it - as we seek to discover the truth behind the tale of The Betz Sphere.
