Show Notes

Julie Morey is a school social worker who does a lot for single moms because she chose to become a single mom by a donor with an unconventional motherhood journey. Her goal is to do a TEDx. She empowers women to write their own story and make decisions for themselves instead of waiting around for Prince Charming. She thought things were going to be more difficult than they were but she created a situation that worked. She believed in having a village and lived in an area that was walkable because it was important to her to have the availability of getting out of the house when she needed it. Being a 40 year old first time mom was a great choice for her because she was older, wiser and didn't sweat the small things. She had some great help along the way and was open to accepting it (which is such a great trait!). Her best friends were her biggest supporters and created an open experience for her birthing experience and allowed many friends and families to experience it with her. Her little girl is her travel buddy and they have been to numerous countries together. She also has a fear in the back of her mind that she could lose her and that causes some mama anxiety. Julie was well prepared to be a mom (at the age of 40) but things she wished she would have known was that you need to stop sweating the small stuff. You can make mistakes and your child will survive! She was rigid at the beginning but now she has learned that she has to let go of some of the things that she thought were so important.
