Richard Bradshaw, a 69-year-old former youth worker, was sentenced to three years and two months in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage boy over two decades ago. Bradshaw, who used to volunteer at a Leicestershire school club, was previously cautioned for similar offenses in 2007. He exploited his position of trust during overnight trips with the boys, assaulting the victim multiple times while he slept. The victims life was forever changed, leading to a ruined marriage, a breakdown, and ongoing trauma. Despite Bradshaws lawyer arguing for no jail time, citing his shame over sexuality and lack of recent offenses, Judge Timothy Spencer deemed the crimes as grooming through broken trust and held Bradshaw fully responsible. An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed to monitor his future actions.
