In the news and under our current administration, we have heard the terms “campaign finance violations”, “hush-money payments”, and “private versus campaign payouts”. Since the 2010 Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v. FEC and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals decision in SpeechNow.org v. FEC, campaign finance law has changed drastically.
