Show Notes
20-year-old Alen Zheng planted an explosive device near MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, then fled to China with his 27-year-old sister. The device, found a week later, could have caused serious harm. Both siblings are U.S. citizens, and the sister was arrested upon her return. Their mother is detained for overstaying her visa, and explosive parts were found at their home. Alen faces up to 40 years if convicted, while his sister could get 30 years for covering up the crime. Another person was arrested for separate threatening calls to the base, adding to the high alert status at MacDill, home to U.S. Central Command.
