Marinakis reportedly won the England star over with a passionate speech about how important he was to Forest and their ambitious plans for the future. Gibbs-White, 25, has now signed an improved and extended contract to 2028 at the City Ground in a major blow to Tottenham and executive chairman Daniel Levy. Spurs triggered the player’s £60m release clause earlier this month, prompting fury and threats of legal action from Forest. But after more than a fortnight of uncertainty, Marinakis took decisive steps to end the saga.Gibbs-White, 25, did not initially fly to the Algarve with the rest of the Forest squad for personal reasons, but joined them later last week. Marinakis arrived ahead of Saturday night's friendly against Fulham and went to meet Gibbs-White. He told the star that he was determined to keep on making Forest bigger and stronger and how he wanted the former Wolves man to be at the heart of it. Gibbs-White is understood to have been so impressed by Marinakis’ enthusiasm and vision for Forest’s future that he agreed not to pursue a transfer to Tottenham. His new deal is believed not to include a release clause. The 18-year-old defender, who linked up with the Club earlier this month after his move from Hajduk Split was agreed in 2023, was introduced as a half-time substitute against the League One side and wasted no time in making an impact, flicking on a corner from fellow new boy Mohammed Kudus - who also caught the eye with an impressive display - to tee up Will Lankshear for the opener four minutes into the second period, then picking out the bottom corner with a sharp finish from Kudus' pass a few moments later to double our lead. With two lots of 11 players deployed either side of half-time, it was a useful opening to our pre-season campaign and gave our new Head Coach a chance to run the rule over plenty of players. Spurs have identified Mohammed Kudus as a key target and there is a feeling he will be available for less than his £85m release clause, which is applicable to Premier League sides for the first 10 days of July. There is no asking price but £60m could be enough to get a deal done, in order to ease PSR pressure. Initial contacts have taken place with his new agents while there are more clubs also involved. Kudus is understood to be open to Spurs talks. Meanwhile Spurs interest in Eberechi Eze is understood to have cooled at this stage. Arsenal made contact with s camp over the weekend. Eze has a £68m release clause payable in instalments and is open to Arsenal should they proceed with a bid. Contacts are taking place for Crystal Palace star with Arsenal informed on deal conditions.
