國外有一個學者大衛·波萊，把進入病態的垃圾情緒稱為「垃圾車定律」(The Law of the Garbage Truck)，也叫「垃圾人定律」，意思是有嚴重不良情緒的人就像一臺「垃圾車」，他們到處跑來跑去，有時候剛好碰到了就把垃圾往別人身上丟。
遇到「垃圾人」時除了“不理會”之外，懂得“轉念”面對也是非常重要的，如果“情緒”只是壓抑在心中，小心自己也成為別人眼中的「垃圾人」。
