Historia La historia de Mercyful fate, comienza cuando Kind Diamond abandona el grupo Black Rose, y se une al grupo Brats, en el que tocaban 3 músicos que prácticamente formarian Mercyful Fate en el futuro. Hank Shermann y Michael Denner ( guitarras ) y el bajista Timi Hansen. Brats se disolvió y King y Shermann formaron un proyecto por su cuenta y Denner y Hansen colaboraron con Danger Zone.Una llamda a King para que entrase a formar parte de Danger Zone significó la oportunidad de unirse de nuevo los cuatro.Con la introducción de Kim Ruzz ( bateria), Mercyful Fate había nacido oficialmente. Mercyful Fate es una banda de estilo Heavy Metal con letras oscuras, la cual fue y sigue siendo la herencia musical y artística de la mayoría de los grupos de heavy metal y black metal principalmente. En la lírica se puede encontrar temas sobre misas negras y de adoración al demonio. La música juega con melodías lentas y rápidas, también se puede apreciar un marcado hard rock progresivo es sus ritmos (como en el track Satan´s Fall). Comandada por el carismático King Diamond, personaje artístico de Kim Bendix Petersen que favoreció al crecimiento de la escena black metal escandinava. Fundado en Copenhague (Dinamarca) en 1980, experimentan un gran auge en la escena «metalera» europea (como son Raunchy y Mnemic), llamando la atención de los jóvenes por sus poderosos, siniestros y emocionantes temas, gracias a la habilidad del guitarrista Hank Shermann (nombre real Rene Krolmark) y destacando la particularidad vocal de King Diamond (nacido como Kim Bendix Petersen). Graban varias demos y temas sueltos para recopilatorios. Y por fin en el 1982 graban un mini-Lp para Rave-on records. Luego llegarian "Melissa" y "don't break the oath". En 1983 la banda grabó su primer LP: Melissa, que salió al mercado al mismo tiempo que el segundo álbum de Manowar y los primeros trabajos de Metallica y Anthrax. En este primer trabajo ya se puede apreciar el camino que la banda seguiría en los temas de sus canciones: visiones demoniacas, sacrificios satánicos, resurrección de muertos... y esto, añadido a la imagen de King Diamond marcaron un hito en la evolución en el campo de la música Heavy y del Metal. Este disco incluye la canción que le da nombre al disco y que es uno de los temas más representativos de Mercyful Fate. De este modo la evolución de King Diamond, desde que empezó a tocar hasta la formación de Mercyful Fate, se había completado y consolidado para formar su estilo único y personal. Durante la gira Europea de Melissa se gestó su segundo disco: Don't Break The Oath, que vio la luz en 1984. En este disco la variedad vocal de King alcanza sus cotas mas elevadas, haciendo que sus fans, con la imagen de la cruz de tibias invertida que King utilizaba como micrófono, tomaron como estandarte, consolidaran el éxito de Mercyful Fate. En ese disco, los temas más representativos son A Dangerous Meeting y Come To The Sabbath, enlazando este ultimo con el tema Melissa de su anterior disco, en lo que se va apreciando hacia donde tiende el inconfundible estilo de King Diamond (el enlazar unas canciones con otras para contar una historia). De este modo Don't Break The Oath se convirtió en el primer disco de underground metal (el término de Black-Metal se empezó a popularizar mas tarde) que entró en Bubbling Under, una prestigiosa sección de la revista musical Billboard y se quedo a punto de entrar en el TOP 200 (se quedo en el puesto 202). Pero este era el principio del fin. Durante la gira por América, los roces entre King Diamond y el guitarrista Hank Shermann (así como con otros miembros de la banda) empezaron a crecer y finalmente estallaron separándose a principios de 1985. Hank Shermann, irónicamente, formó la banda Fate (no tuvo ningún éxito) mientras que King Diamond (ayudado por Timi Hansen y Michael Denner) formó la banda conocida como King Diamond que es un estandarte del Black-Metal y una referencia obligada del Gothic. De todos modos Mercyful Fate no descansa. Desde su tumba prosigue dando satisfacciones a sus fans y en 1987 publican un disco titulado The Beginning donde aparecen los temas que integraban su primer trabajo (una "maqueta" titulada Nuns Have No Fun que se publico en 1982) y algunos temas de sus anteriores trabajos. El año 1992 es el elegido para sacar al mercado Return Of The Vampire que contiene nuevos temas y raras versiones de los clásicos de Mercyful Fate. En 1993 con la formación original restaurada (aunque King Diamond prosigue su andadura) la banda vuelve a grabar y produce un disco completamente nuevo: In The Shadows donde reaparece nuevamente Melissa (completando en forma de "trilogía" la historia de este personaje). Lars Ranzerberger, más conocido como Lars Ratz (Schleswig, 21 de febrero de 1968-Vilafranca del Bonany, Mallorca, 18 de abril de 2021) fue un bajista y productor musical alemán, reconocido principalmente por haber sido uno de los miembros fundadores de la banda Metalium. Biografía Vida temprana Ratz nació en Schleswig en 1968. A los ocho años empezó a tomar clases de piano y poco tiempo después desarrolló un gusto por agrupaciones de pop, como ABBA y Bee Gees. Sin embargo, se convirtió en fanático del hard rock luego de presenciar una proyección del filme Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park en la ciudad donde vivía. Influenciado por Steve Harris, Ratz decidió convertirse en bajista y mudarse a otras ciudades, como Stuttgart, Hannover y Colonia, tratando de vincularse a una agrupación de heavy metal. Velvet Viper, Metalium y Fyre! Jutta Wienhold de la banda Zed Yago lo invitió a unirse a su banda, que para entonces se encontraba grabando su tercer disco. Debido a problemas legales, la agrupación cambió su nombre a Velvet Viper. Después de publicar un segundo álbum, la banda se separó y Ratz formó Monster-Productions Management, una empresa de producción musical. Acto seguido, se puso en contacto con el guitarrista Chris Caffery (de Savatage) y con el baterista Mike Terrana para formar Metalium, cuyo disco debut de 1999 cosechó críticas muy positivas. Tras algunos cambios en la formación, la banda publicó su segundo disco en el año 2000. Ratz permaneció en la agrupación hasta su disolución a comienzos de la década de 2010 y se vinculó con el grupo Fyre!, comandado por la cantante argentina Alejandra Burgos. Fue uno de los primeros subgéneros del heavy metal en aparecer, siendo el tema Stone Cold Crazy de Queen precursora del sonido thrash metal publicada en 1974, y su influencia en este estilo ha seguido creciendo a través de los años. De esta forma, el thrash metal es la base y la mayor influencia en el metal extremo, donde se incluye principalmente al death metal y el black metal; además de tener un importante desarrollo (junto con el speed metal) en el power metal, si bien este estilo llevó la música por un camino más melódico. También el género ha influido peculiarmente en otros subgéneros como el metalcore, esto lo demuestran bandas como Trivium, Unearth o Chimaira como algunos de los ejemplos más populares. Cabe resaltar la importancia en la creación y evolución del género de las bandas primigenias mejor conocidas como Los cuatro grandes del thrash metal, las cuales son consideradas las más representativas y en un orden fundacional. El thrash metal en general se caracteriza por el uso de tempos rápidos, riffs de guitarra más agresivos y con un mayor uso de palm mute, solos bastante rápidos pero con muchas notas que escapan a la tonalidad, dándole un sonido característico, sonidos de bajo bastante pronunciados heredados de la NWOBHM. Algo muy especial en el estilo es la batería en donde se alternan pedal y bombo a velocidades por encima de los 180 bpm, mientras que también se vale del doble pedal o doble bombo y voces agresivas pero sin llegar al extremo de estilos más pesados como el black metal, quizás la velocidad rápida y agresiva está más heredada del hardcore punk sin embargo el thrash adquiere más técnica a la hora de ejecución. La mayoría de los solos de guitarra del thrash se reproducen a gran velocidad, ya que se caracterizan por la fragmentación, y las técnicas de uso, tales como sweep picking, fraseo legato, y tapping a dos manos. Los guitarristas del thrash metal son general y completamente influenciados por la NWOBHM. Velocidad, ritmo y los cambios de tiempo también definen el thrash metal. El thrash tiende a tener una sensación de aceleración que puede ser debido en gran parte a su estilo de batería agresiva, combinación entre la batería de la NWOBHM y el hardcore punk. Por ejemplo, las baterías de thrash suelen utilizar dos bombos, o un doble pedal, con el fin de crear un sonido bastante crudo, acelerado y potente. Para mantenerse al día con los demás instrumentos, muchos bajistas de thrash suelen utilizar una púa. Sin embargo, algunos destacados bajistas de thrash metal utilizan sus dedos, como Frank Bello, Greg Christian, Robert Trujillo, Jack Gibson, Steve DiGiorgio y Cliff Burton. Varios bajistas usan un tono bajo distorsionado, un enfoque popularizado por Lemmy de Motörhead, Tom Araya (Slayer), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Cliff Burton y Jason Newsted (Metallica), entre otros. Las letras de las canciones de thrash metal incluyen el aislamiento, la corrupción, la injusticia, la adicción, el suicidio, la muerte, el asesinato, la guerra, y otros males que afligen a la persona y la sociedad, incluyendo mutilaciones y otros horrores en ejemplos más extremos. El humor y la ironía a veces se pueden encontrar, pero son limitados, y son la excepción y no la regla. La gran mayoría de las bandas que manejan estos temas son del estilo crossover thrash. Dynazty fue fundada por Rob Love Magnusson y John Berg en 2007. Pronto se unieron los miembros Georg Härnsten Egg y Joel Fox Apelgren. Después de algunos conciertos con varios vocalistas, encontraron al cantante y líder Nils Molin a través de Myspace en la primavera de 2008. Desde entonces , Dynazty ha lanzado siete álbumes de larga duración y ha realizado giras en Suecia e internacionalmente.
