Al meer dan 30 jaar zit Joost Patocka als jazzdrummer in het vak. Hij studeerde bij grote Amerikaanse drummers als Joe Morrello en Carl Allen. Patocka maakt deel uit van het Benjamin Herman Trio en werkte samen met jazzmuzikanten als Rita Reys. Daarnaast geeft hij les als docent aan Codarts Rotterdam.
