In 2000 debuteerde Esther Gerritsen met de verhalenbundel ‘Bevoorrecht bewustzijn’. Daarna volgden verschillende romans, waaronder De Trooster, Roxy en Dorst. De laatste jaren maakt ze vooral furore als scenariste voor tv-series en films in samenwerking met Halina Reijn en Carice van Houten. Gerritsen schreef onder meer het scenario voor Instinct en de nieuwe NPO1-serie Red Light.
