Before we dive into the different options for paying for final expenses, it's important to understand that the cost of burial and cremation in the United States has been steadily increasing over the years.
According to the National Funeral Directors Association, the median cost of a funeral with viewing and burial in 2020 was $9,000, while the median cost of a cremation with a memorial service was $6,000. And those costs are only expected to rise in the future.
