Soaring temperatures across California and a request to cut back on power usage this week raised questions about the reliability of the state’s electricity grid. Governor Newsom says temporarily extending the life of California’s Diablo Canyon nuclear plant near San Luis Obispo could improve grid reliability but at a cost.
