In 1969, the United States of America successfully sent the first men to the moon in the Apollo 11 Spacecraft. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first people to walk on the lunar surface. A third member of the crew, Michael Collins, manned the command module in orbit around the moon while Armstrong and Aldrin completed their trip to the surface in the lunar module. While on the moon they conducted scientific experiments, planted an American Flag, and took photos and videos.
