Ep. 180 – Heroes of Missions Pt. 1
Hey, Kingdom Family! In this week’s episode, Leif and Paul share about three eras of modern missions. From the Apostle Paul, Gutenberg, and Martin Luther to David Livingstone and Joshua Project, modern missions have changed significantly over the last centuries. The individuals we consider heroes of missions demonstrate what faith looks like and how it operates in far-reaching and dangerous places. Many of these people learned local languages, promoted social reform, and were all willing to fully surrender their lives to Jesus to see nations transformed. The first era (1792-1864) is known as the era of the coastlands. Leif and Paul discuss William Carey and his impact in Calcutta, India, after 41 years of service. Gifted in linguistics, Carey translated the Bible into seven languages and was passionate about advocating social reform. Carey famously said, “Expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.” The second era (1865-1980) concentrated on nations’ interiors. Leif and Paul discuss David Livingstone’s mission exploits in Africa and Hudson Taylor in China inland. Livingstone’s impact and contribution are far outside the scope of missions. He was a well-known explorer who paved new pathways in jungles and a respected scientific investigator. Hudson Taylor, through his mission China Inland Mission, equipped 800 missionaries to establish 125 schools throughout China, which resulted in 20,000 Christian conversions. He translated the bible as well. The third era (1981-2000) emphasized reaching every people group. Church denominations focused on educating believers to reach all people with the Gospel. Some well-known organizations included Joshua Project and the Eighty-Two Thousand Movement. Large mission movements shared a vision to give the gospel to every person and to establish a church among every people group. Some of the blessings of the three eras include the availability of the Bible in most languages and the prayer and intercession movements spurred by the advancement of new technologies over the centuries. Come back to listen to Heroes of Missions Pt. 2 as we discuss the fourth and current era of missions! Be blessed! Partner with Global Mission Awareness to turn on the light in the nations here. Ep. 179 – Heroes of Faith
Welcome, Kingdom Family! This week, we’re introducing a new series called “Heroes of Harvest.” In this episode, Leif and Paul discuss the heroes of the faith outlined in Hebrews 11. These were people who lived by faith, living full and dying empty, giving all they had to build God’s Kingdom on earth. We are invited to honor the price paid by those who have gone before us. We can honor their lives, obedience, and sacrifices to the living God. As a result, lives were saved, and nations were transformed. Be blessed! Ep. 178 – The Cost and Reward of Obedience
Hey Kingdom Family! In today’s episode, my spiritual son Paul Yadao and I discuss the cost of obedience and share our personal stories about Friday moments when we thought all was lost. We share how to navigate the waiting period before Sunday when resurrection life comes! Taking up the cross and following Jesus is not always easy, especially today. So, if you are hungry for more and want to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and eventually do what Jesus did, I believe living a cross-shaped life is for you. Ep. 177 – My Part In His Plan
You have an important part to play in God’s great plan! During Pentecost, the purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit was to initiate a “Holy go!” Acts 1:8 says, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, an in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We are all invited to be Jesus witnesses. It doesn’t matter if you are a doctor, school teacher, engineer, housewife, or teenager. You are on a mission with God and you are called to finish the task. Learn more about finishing the task and Global Mission Awareness here.
Ep. 176 – The Unfinished Task Pt. 2
Hey Kingdom Family! I invite you to join me and my spiritual son, Paul Yadao, in Part 2 of the podcast “The Unfinished Task.” We hear Jesus’ clear invitation to go to places and cities where we will re-present Him to bring the Kingdom of God, and we see Him move in and through us. We also share how hospitality is a weapon of warfare and a key to finishing the unfinished task. Ep. 175 – The Unfinished Task pt. 1
As part of this series on fulfilling the great commission and doing it with a great commandment heart, the big question is, “What is the one thing that has stopped us from fulfilling what is His last command that should be our first priority?” And that is to take the Gospel to every nation and to be able to see a community among every ethnic group in the world so that Jesus can come back. I have said it many times, it is a heart issue. I believe the biggest reason is that we have been distracted and the enemy has distracted us from making the main thing the main thing. Part of where our treasure is also where our heart is and we can see an indicator. So the reason there is a lot of darkness is because of a lack of light. And we spend only fifty cents out of every hundred dollars that is given to missions to invest light into the darkest places in the world, including the Middle East. What would it look like if the unfinished task became a higher priority so Jesus is glorified? Only then will we be able to see the very thing that is the heart of the Father— that every single person will experience how good God is and how loved they are because they will have an encounter with a god that looks like Jesus. Ep. 174 – Lambs Among Wolves
It’s harvest time. We see in the scripture that when Jesus sent the 72 disciples in Luke 10, He sent them as lambs among wolves. Lambs are known for two things: to follow and fully depend. And that is what we need to be the harvesters in this end times: to hear and obey what the Lord of the harvest says. We are sheep among wolves, but we are the chosen ones to partner with Jesus. It’s harvest time. Ep. 173 – Led by Love | Samaritan Woman Pt. 2
This week, we’ll dive deeper into our discussion on the Samaritan Woman. In the previous podcast, we explored how her encounter with Love transformed her identity, liberating her from fear, guilt, and shame. As she drank from the Living Water, she went from thirsting for Love to becoming a source of Love, enriching her community and city. In this episode, we’ll examine the fruits borne from this transformative encounter and explore how we, too, can be empowered and led by Love within our own spheres of influence, echoing the journey of the Samaritan woman. Ep. 172 – The Samaritan Woman | ft. Paul Yadao
We have here a beautiful story of the Samaritan woman who had an encounter with Love. We see her story as a beautiful picture of the true state of humanity, looking for true identity and true love. In this conversation that she had with Jesus, He gave her the open door–an invitation to be the worshiper that the Father is seeking and drink from the Living Water that He offers. What happened to her was that transformation from the woman who was tied up with her broken identity of someone looking for love in all the wrong places to a woman who became a daughter of the Father. As she was set free from fear, shame, and guilt, she went straight back to the city of Samaria and talked to the men. This is a beautiful story of harvest coming out of and embracing Love and discovering identity. Ep. 171 – Healthy Spiritual Parenting | ft. Paul Yadao
Everywhere I go, I have people coming up to me asking, “How can I find my spiritual father/mother?” or, “Would you be my spiritual father?” and I have the honor of having Paul Yadao, my spiritual son, with me. We’ve just had a conversation on the topic of what healthy spiritual parenting looks like, and it is going to help you see that the Father has a calling for you to find your tribe, your family, and a place at the family table. And it is in this place where you will find your special sauce and connect with the community of family that will impact cities and nations. I pray this conversation blesses you. Ep. 170 – That We May Be One
One of the scripture verses in the Bible that has had an incredibly profound meaning to me is John 17:21-26; but especially verse 26. I studied this one verse for 7 years, and it was my focus point. When Jesus said, “Father, Father, I have declared Your Name among them, and I will declare it. That the very love, Father, that You have towards Me, that love is going to be in them, and I in them.” When I first read that, I knew that I had not experienced the fullness of the love that Jesus had with the Father, and I sensed He was praying for me. So, I started for 7 years to drill into this because I know that’s the only way that the world is going to see Jesus through me. Because who Jesus is to me is who He will be through me, and that is going to happen in one way– that I receive the same love that He had with the Father. That is the only way I am going to love the world the way He loved the world. After 7 years of drilling into that, I want to share some of the gold nuggets that have come out of this journey. it is so precious to me, and it will be precious to you. And when you start to taste it, you will start to see how good He is. Ep. 169 – What Will It Take To Fulfill The Great Commission?
I am living in the city of Atlanta, the place where Coca-Cola was founded in 1892. And I’ve realized that in the last 132 years, this company had a mission, and that was to bring this sweet drink into the hands of every person in the world. I have been in the jungle of Congo. I’ve been with the taxi driver in Pakistan. I have been all over the world, and they know about Coca-Cola but have never heard the name of Jesus. So if it took Coca-Cola less than 150 years to take its product around the world, why is it that after 2,000 years, over 40% of the entire world population still has little to no access to the Gospel, and over 1.7 billion people have never once heard the name of Jesus? I believe the biggest reason is because we have been distracted. The enemy has distracted us from fulfilling the Great Commission. So the reason there is a lot of darkness is because of a lack of light. And we only spend fifty cents out of every hundred dollars that goes to missions to be able to invest light into the darkest places in the world, including Hamas and those places. What would it look like if this became higher in our priority? If Coca-Cola can do it, we can do it as the Church. Open up your eyes; the harvest is ripe! Ep. 167 – It’s Harvest Time! A Word for 2024.
I have centered this podcast around the vision for this year, emphasizing that in 2024, it’s harvest time. As you open your eyes and observe the fields, you’ll notice that the world is ripe for the taking. When Jesus looks at the harvest, He’s prepared but seeks someone to pray, have a vision, and recognize the harvester. In this podcast, I invite you to reflect on the sunset of 2023, extract its lessons, and step into the opportunities of 2024. Let’s arise and shine as Ambassadors of Love, representing King Jesus well. This marks the beginning of the best phase in your life. People around you are eager to encounter a God that looks just like Jesus, and they waiting for you to connect with Him, so you can mirror His ways in every situation. Ep. 166 – No More Shame: Breaking off The Chains of Your Past
“Love your neighbor as Yourself”—Jesus. This command that Jesus gave us is one that we have all heard and memorized. Sometimes, we forget that loving your neighbors first starts with loving yourself. It’s one thing to love others you may or may not know, but quite another to love yourself, of which you know the deepest and darkest things. Often, we get plagued by shame and guilt from what we have done and ultimately begin to hate ourselves. I believe this is the greatest weapon the enemy uses to hinder the body of Christ from living in freedom today. Shame prevents us from seeing ourselves the way Papa God sees us, and we begin to forget who we really are and our values. But I want you to know that Jesus did not die to make you valuable; he died because you are valuable. In every area where shame, guilt, and condemnation have occupied our hearts, Jesus came to heal and restore. No longer defined by our past mistakes, we become vessels of grace and living testimonies to the transformative power of Jesus. As we go into this new year with new dreams and expectations, let us first lay aside anything hindering our ability to see and love ourselves the way He does. Ep. 164 – The Kingdom is Advancing!
In this week’s podcast, Leif Hetland discusses our Lighthouses of Love movement in Cuba and a special building project we need your help with! A Lighthouse of Love is a beacon of light that shines in the darkest of places. Lighthouses are similar to church plants and can also include organizations and businesses. It is a movement that aims to raise up ambassadors of love who are equipped and released to disciple, bless, transform, and influence their spheres with the Gospel of the Kingdom and its values. In January, we started with 62 Ligthouses of Love. Today, we have 187 Lighthouses! Additionally, Yasser and Aki just purchased their first ministry vehicle, a large van, which will be used to serve the community! What an amazing upgrade — they started their ministry with a small scooter! We have an opportunity to help our Cuban directors Yasser and Aki expand their current church building. A property connected to their church is available for purchase. Currently, they have to open the doors to the church so that people in the streets can attend and hear the worship and preaching. They are over capacity, and expanding their church building is necessary for effective discipleship. You can partner with our work in Cuba by donating below. Ep. 163 – Living at the Center of Eternity
If I had the time, I would take you on a journey from eternity past to eternity future. Meaning, let’s go all the way back to the beginning. Genesis 1:1 starts off by saying, “In the beginning was God.” So, we see from the very first sentence that it all begins with God and ends with God. I don’t know about you, but that makes me excited. But in the middle of the two eternities, we need the proper perspective to run well and accomplish the things that are in Papa God’s heart. There is a Kingdom alignment taking place for the Kingdom assignment. But before the assignment, we need to have the proper alignment. And the things that are out of alignment, He is putting back into its place. Even some of the shakings that are taking place right now are connected to the eternal story. We need the original blueprint of what God intended from the beginning. And if not, then we’d just have a Gospel where we are trying to create our own blueprint. This is the question I want to ask and help you answer in this message: What is the model of Heaven, and what does that look like on Earth in practicality? Including in our homes and businesses? If we do not have the proper blueprint, we cannot get the very Kingdom template– meaning how the King sees everything else, and we will be working and building in our own strength because we do not have a clear vision. Ep. 162 – Seeing Israel and Palestine Through Heaven’s Eyes
I wrote a book called “Seeing Through Heaven’s Eyes” many years ago, and I’m realizing we are in need of this message more than ever in this hour. We cannot afford to view what is taking place in the Middle East with an us against them mentality. We have an opportunity to see things from Heaven’s perspective. It is so easy to be distracted by what God is not doing, and even what the enemy is doing all around the world. And for us as sons and daughters of glory, it is important we get God’s perspective, and that we can see with the eyes of love. Then we can see into the invisible and we can also be involved in doing the impossible. So, I want to invite you to be able to take and put on the lenses of love, to be able to look into the Middle East and get the proper perspective of what God is doing, how you can pray, as well as how you can be a part of the solution.

Ep. 161 – Lay It Down
I remember one New Year’s early on in my relationship with Papa Jack, he taught me the lesson of the rod of God. Papa Jack said, “Son, I want to teach you about the rod. In this season, you will learn how to pick it up and lay it down.” This lesson has transformed and saved my life and family in more ways than I can express. I was sharing this message of the rod in Colorado a few years back and was activating the congregation to identify whatever situation they are facing and prophetically lay it down to the Lord. There was this lady in the meeting who had a prodigal son whom she had not seen in 6 years and had been crying out to the Lord for his return and salvation. I will never forget this. The moment she laid her son down to the Lord, that young man rushed in through the back doors of that meeting, surrendered his life to Jesus, and reconciled with his mother. It was a powerful moment of surrender. Most of you know by now that Papa Jack went home to be with Jesus in 2021. I had just come back home from the Middle East when I got the call that he only had a few moments left. I jumped back on another plane and flew to be by his side in his final moments. And just before he left, the final words he whispered on earth echoed that lesson he had taught me so many years before, “Son, lay it down.” This is the lesson my papa taught me, and I want to teach it to you. We can only be entrusted with the things we are free from. Whether that may be a family member like in the Colorado story or a business, this is a season to learn to lay down our rods in surrender and to pick them up in His strength.

Ep. 160 – The Worst Day of Your Life
How do you navigate the worst day in your life? I know this is a difficult topic for many because they have gone through much pain and grief. This is not a feel-good conversation, but it is a key topic we need to address if we want to reign in this life. The truth of the matter is that we live in a broken world that’s awaiting the redemption of Christ. We have all experienced pain and suffering to some measure. Some more than others. It is inevitable. Jesus even tells us in John 16:33 that we will have trouble in this world. This does not mean we have to be victims of our situation. Pain can either make us bitter or better, and it all depends on how we handle it. In this podcast, I want to take you into a moment in King David’s life where he was facing his worst day. Some of you have probably heard me call this the “Ziklag Moment”. I have discovered three keys in this story that will empower you to make it through your Ziklag victoriously. No matter what comes our way, we can rest assured that our Heavenly Father can cause all things to work out for our good. He has the final word and He wants to partner with each of us to recover everything that the enemy has stolen. We do not have to live defeated in the valley. Let’s learn how to turn our worst days into our greatest victories.

Ep. 159 – Restoration of Isaac and Ishmael
Perhaps when people hear my name or ministry, they think of Pakistan and the Middle East. This area and group of people have been the focus of my mission for almost 30 years, but the Lord has recently started to sharpen and adjust that focus. Just a few months ago, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, in what almost seemed like an audible voice, with the clear instruction to reconcile Isaac and Ishmael. “Reconcile Ishmael and Isaac?” This may sound like mission impossible from the natural standpoint, but biblically speaking, Jesus will not return until this reconciliation takes place. The Apostle Paul talks about this in Romans 11, explaining how the Lord will use the Gentiles to ignite a jealousy within His people, Israel, leading to their salvation. Over the last 30 years of my ministry life, I have had the privilege of attending thousands of churches of different denominations and backgrounds all over the world. I’ve found that it’s common that people honor Jews but struggle to love Muslims not realizing that it’s their salvation that will lead the Jews to Jesus. It’s my hope that as you listen to this week’s podcast that you will hear and understand the Father’s desire for these two nations.

Ep. 158 – Covert Revival
Many times when we hear the word “revival” we envision massive crowds with signs and wonders being constantly reported. But the mark of a true revival is not evidenced solely by the supernatural but by the transformation it brings to the land, culture, and community. There is a special type of revival I want to introduce you to that has been going on since the beginning of time–a love revival. Papa God has been relentlessly pursuing us with His love since the creation of the world. If you read the Bible, from cover to cover, you will discover the thread of Papa’s love woven into the history of humanity. Nothing has made a greater impact on our world than this very thing. Two thousand years ago, the greatest display of the Father’s love was lifted up on a bloody cross, illustrating to us the depth the Father was willing to go in order to restore us back to Himself. There is no other revival that can bring transformation like the love revival. Understanding this has been the greatest key in my life and ministry to the nations. It is the key that has helped GMA add over 1.3 million Muslims to the Lamb’s Book of Life. The most beautiful thing about it is–-it works in all places and all times for all people. Love is the language that the blind can see and the deaf can hear. Do you want to see a transformation in your life? Your friends and family? Your workspace? Even your ministry? Learn how to walk in love, the one thing that can and will transform everything.

Ep. 157 – Fully Surrendered
God is looking for laid-down sons and daughters; those who are ready to say “Here I am”. He’s given an invitation to the lovers to put themselves in the offering basket to be spent any way He desires. We are living in a culture where the Body of Christ has become very concerned with the speck in her brother’s eye without first removing the log out of her own eye. It is critical that we first address what’s happening in our own hearts, allowing the Holy Spirit to search us, instead of accusing our brothers and sisters of their own. There is a great illustration of this in Isaiah chapter six. The prophet Isaiah is full of judgment and condemnation towards his people until he sees the Lord, high and lifted up. This revelation of the Lord radically shifted his perspective, leading him to first recognize and address the plank in his own eye. Once he dealt with his own issue, his ears were open to hear the conversation of heaven and Isaiah couldn’t help but throw himself into the offering basket. Perhaps some of you are like me and have answered this call in the past, but need to renew your vows. For some of you this may be a moment to come back into alignment; keeping the main thing the main thing. For others, this will be your first time to answer this invitation from the Lord. May this message both encourage and provoke your heart to see the Lord high and exalted and place yourself on the altar–to live fully surrendered.

Ep. 156 – Lighthouses in Cuba feat. Yasser & Aki
Most great things come in seed form. I remember the first time I was sharing this dream for Lighthouses of Love with our GMA directors in Cuba. As a result of this conversation seeds were planted in their hearts and the fruit has exploded in that land. As of right now, they have already established over 100 Lighthouses of Love in Cuba! There are Lighthouses within homes, schools, hospitals, and even government buildings. These Lighthouses are an extension of the church in every place – an embassy of Love outside the walls of the church building to re-present to neighbors, co-workers, and friends the goodness and kindness of Papa God. The testimonies that are coming from these Lighthouses have been glorious, as hundreds have come to Christ and mighty miracles are taking place. What started as a dream has turned into a movement that is quickly sweeping through Cuba. I believe that what God is doing in this land is a prototype of what is soon to take place in many nations around the world. I pray your hearts are encouraged as you listen to their story and the testimonies of what God is continuing to do right now in Cuba.

Ep. 154 – Finisher Anointing
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 One major goal I have for my life is to finish well. It’s become common in the Church that ministers do not have a strong track record of finishing well. Only 7% of ministers and their ministries work well. Others have veered off the path due to misguidance, distraction, loss of heart, or being sluggish in their walk, but the scripture above tells me that we are fully capable of finishing well. Grace has been given to us through Christ to be kept by the Holy Spirit. We must cling to Jesus through the challenges by fixing our eyes on Him. He alone is the author and finisher of our faith. Our gaze becomes clear when we look to Him, and all the things that do not matter fade away. May we let go of the distractions and “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Ep. 153 – Prepare the Barns feat. Benji & Daniela Morf
When I first heard Bob Jones’ prophecy of the billion soul harvest, the Father told me, “I do not want a billion orphans, but a billion sons.” This is not just people who have said ‘Yes’ to follow Jesus. These are those who have been through healthy discipleship; they know who and whose they are and they carry the love of Papa God wherever they go, that the world will know a God who looks like Jesus. Benji and Daniela Morf are a beloved spiritual son and daughter of mine. They have put their life in the offering plate and given the Lord permission to spend their lives however He desires. Investing in and equipping the Body of Christ is the one thing that they have given themselves to. Different parts of Asia have been impacted by their ministry and they have seen thousands come to the Lord through careful discipleship. They have seen the kingdom family grow through multiplication, rightly bearing the name of their ministry – Kingdom Family Multiplication. Jesus is returning for His bride. We know that according to Matthew 24, He will not return until every ethnic group has heard the fullness of the Gospel. Jesus so desires to be united with His beautiful bride — the Church – and the Father longs for His sons and daughters to come home but this can only happen when the Body of Christ values making disciples intentionally. It is Benji and Daniela’s passion and assignment to see the Church equipped to prepare for the coming harvest. It brings me great pleasure to share this podcast with the world. Listening to them will stir your Spirit and encourage you. Be sure to share this episode with someone that you love. Ep. 152 – Gospel Patrons
“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35 We often hear stories of the gospel heroes, but it’s not very often that we hear about those behind the scenes; the hidden heroes who planted seeds because they have a vision for what Papa God is wanting to grow. They have a vision for the things that are eternal rather than temporal. Come with me on a little journey through history as I remember the gospel patrons; the ones who resourced Jesus, the apostle Paul and William Tyndale. The New Testament highlights different stories of people who encountered Jesus and wanted to give of their resources to the apostles and to Jesus in order to provide for the mission at hand. Many of these givers were women who responded out of an encounter. Their generosity has forever changed the course of history. Maybe you are called to business or you are a teacher or stay at home parent. You might be a pastor or a government employee. Wherever you find yourself, there is a unique calling on your life to love the Lord. No one can love Him like you do. Today I want to honor those who have shared their resources in the kingdom, out of obedience, to see many names added to the Lamb’s book of Life. God sees you, knows you, and loves you. You have put your treasure in heaven where it cannot be destroyed. One of the greatest honors and joys I have had in my life has been to give and it truly fills me with joy. My Father gave. He gave because this is the way He wanted to love us. He gave us Jesus, the greatest gift and so, we get to give. Generosity is in our DNA. I pray that you not only enjoy this podcast today, but the love of the Father will encounter you in a very special way this week. Love you!
Stewarding Your Heart in Times of Adversity feat. Bill Johnson
“Proverbs 4:23 encourages us to watch over our hearts with all diligence because from it flow the issues of life. This is not an invitation to introspection, but it’s a responsibility to watch our attitudes and values. For me, oftentimes where I want to go in life is in the opposite direction of adverse winds. A sailboat can sail against the wind, which is called tacking. This requires the proper use of the rudder and the sail. The sail is like the attitude of the heart and the rudder represents our speech. By monitoring those two areas of our life, we can advance even through difficult times.” shares Bill Johnson in The Voices of Generals series of Kingdom Family Talks.
