Show Notes

As suggested by listener & patreon donor Tyto Pollens, this week is a special detour episode that we're calling POP OF THE KING. In 1997, Stephen King teamed up with his long-time film collaborator Mick Garris--as well as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson--to write an extremely autobiographical haunted house story for Jackson to star in. Special effects legend Stan Winston directs Jackson as he plays dual roles and makes many uncomfortable, overt references to the child abuse allegations that defined public perception of Michael Jackson in the 1990s. The plot eventually takes a back seat in favor of a sort of Six Flags Hallowen show-style extended dance sequence, which is admittedly kinda fun. Still though. Yikes.
