Lees Summit Secures $60K Grant for New Mural & Wayfinding Signs

The city of Lees Summit has obtained a $60K matching grant from the Missouri Department of Tourism, with the city contributing $30K. This funding will create a new mural on the Green Street parking garage and add wayfinding signs around downtown, including near the Amtrak station and parking spots.

The mural will consist of two digital banners, each 20 tall and 16 wide, showcasing the communitys history, agricultural roots, or welcoming vibe, and will include the words Welcome to Lees Summit.

Artists from the Kansas City area can submit designs by March 22nd, with a $3K stipend for the winner. The project aims to draw crowds, boost aesthetics, and promote inclusion, aligning with Lees Summits commitment to public art and community ties.
