The Illinois Supreme Court has disbarred Tyler Brown, a former Kansas City lawyer and union official, following his guilty plea to racketeering conspiracy for stealing union funds. Brown, who held law licenses in both Kansas and Illinois, served as chief of staff to the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers unions former president, Newton Jones. He was involved in misusing funds, including buying unnecessary items and paying family members for little or no work. The scandal led to Jones removal and outrage among union members. Browns sentencing is set for July, facing up to twenty years in prison.
