On today's program, I responded to atheist youtuber AronRa on the subject of abortion. He argues that the Bible does not prohibit abortion, and that Numbers 5 actually teaches that the Israelites were called to perform abortions. These assertions were demonstrated to be completely baseless.

Lutheranism and Presbyterianism
On today's program, I played another lecture in a series I have been teaching on the differences between Lutheranism and other branches of the Christian faith. In this talk, I discussed the differences between Lutheranism and Presbyterianism. I gave a history of the Reformed church which developed into Presbyterianism, and talked about the differences between a Calvinistic and Lutheran understanding of grace and predestination. On today's programmed, I played a talk I gave about the differences between Lutherans and Baptists. This is part of a series of talks about the differences between Lutherans and other Christian groups. In this talk, I discussed the history of the Baptist movement, as well as some of the differences among various Baptist groups. I then presented the Biblical case for infant baptism in opposition to Baptist theology.

This should serve as an introduction for those who live in areas that are heavily populated by Mormons and aren't familiar with their beliefs, especially for those who want to bring the gospel to those who are in the LDS movement.

On this week's program, I spent the hour discussing a number of different issues surrounding the nature of preaching. I began with the question, "Should a pastor preach a sermon that is all law?" This led to a number of further questions surrounding preaching and law and gospel.

Family Worship
On today's program, I was joined by my wife Lisa Cooper to discuss family worship. We talked about the three most important aspects of family worship: prayer, catechesis, and hymnody. The Introit, Kyrie, and Gloria (A Walk Through the Liturgy)
On today's program we continued to look at the church's liturgy. We began with a discussion of purification and priesthood in the Old Testament, and then discussed the introit, Psalm singing, the kyrie, and the various hymns of praised used in Lutheran churches.
Regeneration and Repentance
On today's program, I was joined once again by Rev. Lewis Polzin as we continued our discussion of Henry Eyster Jacobs' book A Summary of the Christian Faith. In going through the ordo salutis, we approached the topic of regeneration. This is, in my opinion, one of our best programs, as we addressed a number of extremely important topics including: the nature of regeneration, infant faith, baptism, repentance, the fruits of repentance, and the importance of pastoral care in the application of law and gospel to the individual.
Christian Perspectives on Birth Control
On today's program, I was joined by my wife, Lisa Cooper, to discuss birth control. We laid out a number of different perspectives on this issue from a variety of Christians, and gave reasons why each view is supported.
A Critique of James White on Justification
Don't worry, I have not suddenly abandoned sola fide, but on today's program I discussed some problems with James White's recent comments on the doctrine of justification in Genesis 12-15. White purports that Abraham was not justified until the covenant cutting ceremony of Genesis 15 in light of his interpretation of Romans 4. I take him to task on several of these points, and demonstrate that justification does not have to be spoken of as only a past-tense reality. This outlines one of the differences between a Lutheran view and many Reformed perspectives on justification.
The Joint LCMS ACNA Statement
On today's program, I discussed the recent joint statement of the ACNA, LCMS, and LCC which resulted from five years of ongoing theological dialogue. I discussed the similarities between Lutheranism and Anglicanism as well as the various ways in which these two traditions differ.

On today's program I discussed the nature of human free will in its fourfold state. I spent the majority of the program discussing the nature of free will prior to the fall, and the various definitions of free will that have been explained by different theologians. I also talked about the difference between the regenerate and unregenerate will, and the question of the impeccability of Christ.

We continued our overview of the ordo salutis as we discussed Jacobs' chapter on illumination. This led to a number of different topics including: apologetics, the relationship between faith and reason, and the knowledge of the unbeliever.

On today's program I finished my response to James White's article "A Brief Rebuttal of Baptismal Regeneration." I discussed Acts 2:38 and the meaning of baptism "for the remission of sins," as well as the washing away of sins in Acts 22:16. We continued to demonstrate the false dichotomy presented by White regarding the efficacy of the cross and baptismal regeneration, and addressed his closing remarks in the essay.

Crucifixes and Pictures of Jesus: A Response to Tim Challies
On today's program I responded to a recent post by Tim Challies in which he argued that Protestants should not wear crucifixes. He did this by citing J.I. Packer's book Knowing God. I demonstrate the flaws in Packer's argument, and talk about the usefulness of crucifixes.
