Show Notes
"You Maniacs! You Blew It Up!"
In this episode of Journey Through Sci-Fi, we explore two films where characters are unexpectedly transported into the future.
First we discuss Planet of the Apes (1968), the classic sci-fi film where astronauts discover a strange world ruled by intelligent apes — only to realise they have travelled thousands of years into Earth's future.
Then we look at Demolition Man (1993), the sci-fi action film where a cop and a criminal are cryogenically frozen in the 1990s and awakened decades later in a seemingly perfect future society.
Together these films explore one of science fiction's most fascinating ideas: what happens when someone wakes up in a future they no longer understand.
Journey Through Sci-Fi explores the history of science-fiction cinema one subgenre at a time.
Follow the show for deep dives into sci-fi classics, cult favourites and the ideas that shaped the genre.
