Dr Luciana de Michelis Mendonça realized very early on in her physical therapy career that something wasn't quite right in the sports physical therapy arena; very few of her women colleagues progressed through the ranks of general training to the specialist field of sports, and even fewer worked at the top level of sports, especially with elite or professional teams. She was determined to drive change.
