33. Maggie Wood: Helping women get a step ahead

Today’s guest is Maggie Wood. Maggie and her husband John are relatively new to Johnson City, but they haven’t wasted any time digging in and making a contribution to our fine city. Maggie is the executive director of A Step Ahead Foundation Tricities, a nonprofit that helps prevent unplanned pregnancies by connecting women with long acting, reversible contraception regardless of their ability to pay.

I learned a lot from my chat with Maggie, including some of the economic and public health consequences of unplanned pregnancy and the barriers that stand between a lot of women and the support they need.
