Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) discusses Biden’s State of the Union address tonight in the midst of the on-going southern border crisis and and the breakdown of relations between the United States and Russia, after its invasion of Ukraine last week. The Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus explains that President Biden’s sanctions have not affected Russia or Putin because it did not go after their “energy industry”, which “controls all of their economy”, and “drives [Putin’s] economy.” The Congressman says that the only way to solve this is through American “energy independence” and exporting “our own energy”, saying, once this happens “Russia is in trouble”, “because [Russia] needs about $60 a barrel of oil to make sure they can run the government. Right now, It's at $110”, giving Russia plenty of resources to fund its invasion of Russia. Biggs comments, “we should not be buying oil and gas from Russia right now.”
